JP and BMitch discuss why they are ready to entertain questions about the Commanders offense after the loss to the Cowboys.
Transcript
00:00there are some undeniable things, right? Um, the offense is not performing like it was.
00:06It just isn't. And if you look at the old line of sustained some injuries, you had Trent Scott
00:13come in yesterday for Wiley. I was surprised it wasn't Lucas instead of Scott, but that's
00:18what it was. Maybe they wanted Lucas to be available in case Coleman had to come out.
00:22Coleman did come out for like two plays to fix, get his finger fixed. Uh, Brandon Coleman had a
00:26big old rap, I believe on his left shoulder. I saw him leave in the locker room. Um, Jaden has
00:31been less accurate than he was earlier in the year. It was good to see Jaden running again
00:36yesterday. I think we can all collectively not have the health discussion. I don't want to hear
00:41people talk about him running because I've heard too many people say he needs to run.
00:45So just let him be him. Yeah. I thought he looked good. He protects himself enough. Let him be him.
00:50Yeah. Um, the accuracy has waned. Uh, a lot of people have a lot of questions about Kingsbury,
00:56about what the offense is doing. If there have been any changes, I think,
01:02you know, when, when McLaurin gets involved earlier, it's better for this offense. I think
01:07they lack. There's not a lot of guys that can get open quick. They call it like phone booth
01:13quicks that can, that can get open right at the line of scrimmage to try to make a play.
01:17I think in turn, that's why you see a lot of the kind of screens and design stuff,
01:21the horizontal attack. Um, I don't know those answers, right? I do know it's a little premature.
01:28I did. They can't touch you beyond five yards. And I believe if you are a receiver in the NFL
01:38and I give you a slant or somewhere right where you go get to, you're going to get the five yards
01:42depth. If you're strong enough, you get open. It doesn't have to all automatically just go to,
01:49uh, those screenplay because the screenplay is getting called for passing defense these days,
01:54which I can't stay the rubs. Yeah. Here's my thing. I think it's,
01:58I've tried to be very measured and not go too far during the first two losses.
02:03Um, I think there's real reason for examination now. I think there's, there's real questions to
02:09be asked. Uh, number 12 landfill. I asked Dan Quinn about his level of concern for the diminishing
02:18offensive production. You mentioned the injuries there and the production just kind of continues
02:22to diminish. What's your level of concern offensively? Uh, can you be more specific
02:26just with the injuries? There's a number of injuries on the line and then Eckler and then
02:30just the production for the offense is diminishing. Like how concerned are you about it?
02:35Yeah. I wouldn't say concerned in the level I would use for, no, maybe your word, but not mine.
02:40Um, I want to make sure that like everything that we're doing, we want to go attack it and, uh,
02:44injuries are not like we all have that. I mean, every team does. So that's part of the gig. And
02:48I like that we have a good deep crew, um, to go hit it, but execution is really where we're at
02:55and what we're going to dig on hard. And, um, that's what we'll focus on heading into this week.
