00:00We know what kids are like, you turn your back for one second
00:03and they're into things that they're not supposed to be, but what actually happened?
00:06So it was half term, I've got three children who are eight, seven and little Lockie's three,
00:11so everyone was a bit feral, including me, and I chucked a wash on and I'd left the lid off the
00:19pods and I had gone upstairs, Harry was sorting out something in the kitchen, then we just heard
00:25this awful scream, and basically Lockie had reached for one of these, which they look so
00:32inviting, the colours and they're squeezy, and he squeezed it and the liquid went into his eyes,
00:39and obviously he then rubbed them, and immediately we got into the shower to try and get it out,
00:46we had him over the sink pouring glass of water, but his eyes were foaming and sticking.
00:52Jeez, you must have been beside yourself.
00:55Yeah, I mean, Harry's a real sort of in the action, and I freeze a little bit,
01:02but we sort of together got ourselves into the car with all the children, got to hospital,
01:08and thank goodness we did, because what followed when we got there, Lockie's PH levels in his eyes,
01:14which I'm sure Dr Hilary can explain, was at an eight, and it needed to be a seven,
01:20so what followed was basically the night in A&E, we wrapped him up like a burrito,
01:28one nurse held his eye open, the other nurse put in the liquid to wash the eye,
01:33and each eye took 10 minutes, and it was 22 litres.
01:36Oh, the poor wee soul.
01:37I know.
01:38Oh, that must have been so awful to watch that, it's terrible.
01:41Yeah, and also, because he was saying to me, I can't see mummy, I can't see mummy,
01:46and in that moment, it's almost a bit out of body, because you know you've just got a job to do,
01:53we've got to get these eyes flushed, and together I've got to work with these amazing nurses who
01:58just were by our side throughout the night, and I sung Twinkle Twinkle, I don't know how many times,
02:05the nurses sung Paw Patrol themes, anything to just try and keep him and bless him,
02:10but basically, he had a chemical burn to the eye, and had we not responded as quickly as we had,
02:19that damage could have been incredibly serious, so thank goodness we got the help we needed.
02:25No, absolutely, that's a warning to all of us.
