00:00Embarrassing performance by the Giants at MetLife yesterday.
00:07They were down 23-0 at the half.
00:09They were down 30-0 four minutes into the second half, and it was basically goodnight
00:14the lights for everybody.
00:16They got to go back to the parking lot and cook more of the chicken cutlets because it
00:21was a festive scene, Joe, in the pregame.
00:24Everybody was very excited.
00:25Tommy Cutlets is back.
00:26Tommy DeVito.
00:27The Sunday gravy was on the stove.
00:31Everybody was ready to go, but Joe, when you can't block and when your defense, call it
00:38what you want, there's some good players on that defense, but they flat-out quit yesterday.
00:43That was, in what's been a really long couple-year stretch, aside from the one playoff year two
00:48years ago, of embarrassing football.
00:51That might have been as bad as it got for the Giants yesterday, Joe.
00:56It was one of those moments, right, in the season where you look at it and you go, you
01:01know what, just pack the bags.
01:05There's got to be changes coming here, and unfortunately, and I like D'Abel, but it's
01:12the Giants are in need of flushing here.
01:15There's a few franchises, unfortunately, that do, and two of them happen to be in New York,
01:21but there is, you got to go because the comments, what we're getting out of locker room, the
01:26product on the field, ownership, I don't know how you keep everybody in-house with this
01:33kind of feeling across the board with the fan base and think you're going to be successful.
01:39You can't, and D'Abel really had nothing to say yesterday except that we had a good week
01:43of practice.
01:44We had a good week of practice, is what he said afterwards.
01:47That's great, but that just doesn't cut it.
01:50And I know that Mara said a month ago, he told reporters, I'm keeping them.
01:56I want stability, and I ain't going to work with Sundays like that because your fan base
02:02isn't going to have it.
02:04He's not going to have it.
02:05You know it's killing him because his father, but you don't know, his father is one of the
02:08most respected men in the history of the National Football League.
02:12Wellington Mara, one of the titans and pioneers of the NFL, and now look at what his franchise
02:19is right now.
02:20They're a laughingstock across the league, and you know, Joe, that that bothers John
02:25Mara, that his franchise has basically become the franchise across town because they've
02:31been that way for a long time, and he's becoming, and maybe already became, just like them.
02:38And there's only one guy who's going to solve his problems, Joe.
02:41Only one guy who's going to solve his problems.
02:43That's Bill Belichick, and I know Giant fans probably won't like it because I don't know
02:47if it'll lead to Super Bowls, but John Mara is going to look at it as leading back to
02:51respectability, and I believe that's the move he's going to make.
02:54He's going to clean these guys out.
02:56Bill drools that job, and I think that he's, him and John, I bet you they've already had
03:01some small backroom conversations about potentially doing that.
03:06Yeah, yeah, and in New York, in that market, with that organization, you've got to get
03:12back credibility.
03:15Otherwise you're done.
03:16You might as well sell the team.
03:17So you don't want to be the Jets, and you don't want to be, you know, out-Jet the Jets,
03:24and the one way you can do that, I guarantee you Belichick won't even sniff the Jet job,
03:29but he would bring instant credibility back to the Giants, and that's the place that you
03:34have to build from, a place of credibility.
03:37Otherwise, one of the greatest franchises in the NFL history, boy, I don't know how
03:41you recover from it.
03:42I really don't.
