00:00:00True it is, without falsehood certain and most true, that that which is above is like
00:00:16to that which is below, and that which is below is like to that which is above, to accomplish
00:00:25the miracles of one thing.
00:00:29And as all things were by the contemplation of one, so all things arose from this one
00:00:36thing by a single act of adaption.
00:00:40The father thereof is the sun, the mother the moon, the wind carried it in its womb,
00:00:48the earth is the nurse thereof.
00:00:51It is the father of all works of wonder throughout the whole world.
00:00:56The power thereof is perfect.
00:00:58If it be cast to earth, it will separate the element of earth from that of fire, the subtle
00:01:05from the gross.
00:01:07With great sagacity it doth descend to earth, and uniteth in itself the force from things
00:01:13superior and things inferior.
00:01:17Thus thou wilt possess the glory of the brightness of the whole world, and all obscurity will
00:01:24fly far from thee.
00:01:26This thing is the strong fortitude of all strength, for it overcometh every subtle thing,
00:01:33and doth penetrate every solid substance.
00:01:37Thus was this world created.
00:01:41Hence there will be marvellous adaptions achieved, of which the manner is this.
00:01:46And for this reason I am called Herbes Trismegistus, because I hold three parts of the wisdom of
00:01:54the whole world, and that which I had to say about the operation of Saul is completed.
00:02:11Hidden deep in a national forest, located in Southern California, is the secluded headquarters
00:02:41of the Church of the Hermetic Sciences.
00:02:44We named our rustic estate Rivendell, after the woodland home of the elves, described
00:02:49in J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy classic, Lord of the Rings, and, as you can see, our Rivendell
00:02:56certainly evokes that image.
00:02:59What better place could we have found to research, teach, and practice the ancient rites of magic?
00:03:06Hermetic magic is our own English and European cultural tradition of shamanism and seership.
00:03:13It is the magic of King Solomon of Berlin, of Nostradamus and Count Coleostro.
00:03:20It has been called sorcery, necromancy, and black magic by those who do not understand
00:03:26it, and yet it is also known as the art of kings, and the secret science of the philosophers.
00:03:35Here at Rivendell, we have everything necessary to pursue the study and the practical application
00:03:41of this ultimate human adventure.
00:03:44We have an outdoor henge for seasonal ceremonies, an indoor temple for magical rites, an astronomical
00:03:51observatory to view the heavens, and a hermitage for retreats, lectures, and fellowship.
00:03:58Come inside with me now, and together we will lift the veil obscuring this ancient art of
00:04:04wizardry.
00:04:07Welcome to the Church of the Hermetic Sciences and the Order of the Temple of Astarte.
00:04:13In the outer world, I'm known as Polk Runyon, but here, in the inner world of the Rivendell
00:04:19Hermitage, I'm the Archimage Frater Fabian, your host and guide on a tour of the wonderful
00:04:28world of hermetic magic.
00:04:31Hermetic magic is an art, a philosophy, and a very ancient and powerful religion.
00:04:37Yes, a religion, but with an essential difference from other religions, where they depend upon
00:04:45faith for their salvation, we seek the wisdom and power of the Gnosis.
00:04:53Know yourself, for in your temple, you are one with the gods.
00:04:59In our two previous videos, The Magic of Solomon and The Dark Mirror of Magic, we emphasized
00:05:06the techniques of evocation and invocation. That's summoning spirits to visible appearance
00:05:14and calling down angels to converse with them. Now, in some ways, this is putting the cart
00:05:20before the horse, because there's a lot more to the philosophy and practice of magic
00:05:27than these two methods.
00:05:29In this production, we're going to give you a broader perspective. We'll cover hermetic
00:05:34magical yoga, path workings, seasonal ceremonies, the mystical Eucharist, and the Enochian Aether
00:05:43system.
00:05:51Let us begin by establishing the magical universe within ourselves through the process of hermetic
00:06:05magical yoga.
00:06:09When I first began my study of magic back in 1968, I was impressed with the Tibetan
00:06:15system of tantric yoga, as described in the series of books edited by W. Evans Wentz.
00:06:23I soon realized that the modern European magus, Franz Barden, and the British magician, Aleister
00:06:31Crowley, had both incorporated Eastern yoga techniques into Western magic, but they had
00:06:38both stopped short of adapting the most important Eastern yoga system to Western practice, that
00:06:45of the straight-line spinal chakra system.
00:06:49Neither Barden nor Crowley could overcome the differences between this Indian tantric
00:06:55configuration and the three-pillared Western tree of life, even though the ancient caduceus
00:07:02of Hermes was a major clue, along with the Renaissance hermetic mystic Johann Gitchell's
00:07:08drawing of a Western hermetic chakra arrangement back in 1696. And the lightning flash or flaming
00:07:16sword on the tree of life itself is also an obvious clue.
00:07:22But we still should not fault Barden and Crowley over much for failing to realize and develop
00:07:28this vital secret, because in the latter half of the 20th century, after Barden and
00:07:35Crowley had both died, Tibetan exiles began to teach selected Western students the inner
00:07:43secrets of their magic. Now those of us who were fortunate enough to sit at the feet of
00:07:48Tibetan gurus and learn their tantras firsthand soon discovered that there were different
00:07:55chakra systems for each deity we invoked. The previous notion that all Eastern chakra
00:08:02arrangements were the same, and had been that way for thousands of years, was just simply
00:08:08not true. Along with this revelation, it is equally important to note that magical color
00:08:15is what we actively impose upon the inner planes, not what we passively observe when
00:08:23we scribe. Therefore, our chakras can conform to our own Kabbalistic color scales.
00:08:32In our case, my year of study and practice with the Sakya Order of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism,
00:08:38under the tutelage of the late Lüding Ken Rinpoche, confirmed for me the validity of
00:08:46this Western Kabbalistic chakra system we had first developed in 1975 and published
00:08:55back in 1977. We have since gone on to perfect a master ritual in which all our ancient pantheon
00:09:04of Phoenician gods indwell in the Kabbalistic spheres within the body of the magician. Within
00:09:12the Mystic Rose and Fire Opal Jewel of Hod, we enter the alchemical laboratory of Kothar,
00:09:23the ancient Phoenician predecessor of Tubal Cain. Within the Mystic Rose and Emerald Jewel
00:09:33of Netzach, we come into the presence of the Goddess Astarte, adorned with all the jewels
00:09:41of the Hermetic Cosmos. I cannot overemphasize the importance of this development. This Kabbalistic
00:09:49chakra arrangement is certainly a significant advance in Western magic. It goes far beyond
00:09:57the Golden Dawn's middle pillar exercise, providing inner wellsprings of power for every
00:10:03magical operation, for the creation of the body of light, and for the ultimate mystical
00:10:11experience of merger with the Godhead. At present, we are the only esoteric group in
00:10:18the Western world employing and teaching this system.
00:10:41There are other ways of entering this hidden magical universe. Following the Hermetic principle
00:11:00of as above, so below, as within, so without, we have again combined the best of Western
00:11:08and Eastern methods in our path-working system. Some people might call this technique astral
00:11:15travel. We prefer the term inner plane projection. In 1971, our late frater Apollonius, known
00:11:24in the outer world as John Brooks, a former student of Sikhsant Guru Kripal Singh, conducted
00:11:31us on a hypnotic journey into a magical realm of surpassing wonders and deep wisdom.
00:11:39The key element of this path-working system is its symbolic attention points, guideposts
00:11:46along the way from which the traveler receives special knowledge for himself or herself alone.
00:11:53Therefore, this transforms what might otherwise be only a deep trance reverie into a true
00:12:01initiation. We cabalized Kripal Singh's Eastern cosmos, and we added the Golden Dawn's own
00:12:10Eastern import, the elemental tatwa symbols, as doorways in the center of our great dark
00:12:18mirror.
00:12:22Come with us now as we venture along the 32nd path on our journey to the sphere of Yasod,
00:12:30the storehouse of memories, and the entrance to the astral plane. The mirror is suspended
00:12:37in space and time. From within our temple, it opens out upon the vast darkness of the
00:12:45universe. It is a portal between dimensions, the gateway to realms beyond.
00:12:53Temple path-workings are usually done inside the magic circle, with the participants lying
00:13:00in a ground star configuration on their backs, heads together, looking up into a suspended
00:13:07circular convex dark mirror. The appropriate tatwa symbol, in this case Parvati representing
00:13:16the earth element, is placed in the center of the great mirror. The mirror, suspended
00:13:21waist high, also serves as an altar top on which will be placed the symbols relating
00:13:28to the path and the sphere of the working. After a hypnotic induction which renders the
00:13:34physical body inert, the living spirit body is released from the dormant physical form
00:13:41and flies up through the tatwa which serves as an astral doorway leading to the inner
00:13:48realms of the Olam Yetzirah.
00:14:04On the highest point of the ridge line, silhouetted against the glow of the Milky Way, we see
00:14:14the great T-shaped stone dolmen. It stands stark black against the heavenly river of
00:14:21souls. We climb the trail along the ridge crest. It becomes steeper and more precarious
00:14:29as we make our way upward. Finally we reach the top and we stand at the base of the dolmen.
00:14:36A cool sea breeze touches our faces. We look down to a desolate shore and out over a vast
00:14:45knighted seascape. This is the Gulf of Nepesh, that ever dark sea of forgotten dreams and
00:14:53ancient remembrance. The moon is hiding behind a veil of cloud, shrouding the sea of mystery
00:15:00and darkness. We examine the ancient stone dolmen. It is 12 feet high and roughly chiseled
00:15:07from coarse black stone. The six foot long cross member on the top forms the T. There
00:15:14are forged bronze rings set near the ends of the cross. On the upright member there
00:15:20are hand and toe holds and a ledge to stand on. We realize that this dolmen must have
00:15:27been used by shamans of old in a vision quest rite of self-crucifixion, and that we are
00:15:35now here for that purpose ourselves. Each of us in turn will climb up upon this great
00:15:42Tao cross. Now it's your turn, and you climb up to stand on the ledge. Carefully,
00:15:51you move around to face outward. You stretch out your arms in the sign of Osiris, and you
00:15:58grasp the bronze rings. The moon emerges from behind the clouds and bathes the vast seascape
00:16:08beyond in a pale silver light. You have a panoramic view of the shoreline and the gulf.
00:16:15A thousand yards out beyond the surf, a great statue rises out of the dark waters. This
00:16:24is the Colossus of Yesod. Far out on the dark horizon to your left, an orange light flashes
00:16:33from the distant sphere of Hod, and far off to the right, a green spark glimmers from
00:16:41the sphere of Netzach. These distant beacons focus their rays on the crystal atop the Colossus.
00:16:50The crystal shimmers with an electric aura, and suddenly a deep blue ray is projected
00:16:58directly towards you. It engulfs you in a violet-blue field of magnetic energy. Your
00:17:06Yesod chakra is awakened. A rose of nine yellow petals has opened to reveal a glittering violet
00:17:16amethyst. You have thus received the second of the jewels with which you will build your
00:17:23body of light. Remember it always and treasure it well. After we have received our mystical
00:17:31empowerment, we will journey out over the dark gulf to climb the spiral ramp circling
00:17:38the Colossus. We will enter the crystal globe of memory and relive one of our past lives.
00:17:45Following this experience, we will return along our path to the astral doorway that
00:17:51leads us back through the dark mirror and into the temple, where we will awaken from
00:17:57our hypnotic trance, recalling our adventure and the knowledge we have gained.
00:18:15For the magician, his religion is the source of his power. He calls upon God, or the gods,
00:18:22to aid him in his quest for wisdom, inner strength, and enlightenment. But what is the
00:18:30best religion for a magician? Most of us have been raised in one or another of the biblically
00:18:36based faiths, none of which are supportive of the practice of magic. And yet, old King
00:18:44Solomon was deemed to have been the greatest magician of the ages. What was his religion?
00:18:53Judaism? Well, officially perhaps. But I believe that King Solomon's secret religion was the
00:19:03same as Melchizedek's a thousand years earlier. The ancient religion behind the Bible, the
00:19:12oldest religion, the religion of ancient Canaan and Phoenicia, the religion of King Solomon's
00:19:20friend, King Hiram of Tyre, who helped him to build the great temple in Jerusalem, the
00:19:27temple to God. But how did they spell God's name? With such a vision shining out of the
00:19:36mists of time, there came a compulsion to resurrect this ancient magical religion.
00:19:44Before the 1930s discovery of an ancient Canaanite royal library unearthed at Rashomra, dating
00:19:55back to the time of Melchizedek, we had no clear idea of the original magical religion
00:20:02that lay behind our Bible. The Bible relates that the legendary Canaanite priest-king Melchizedek
00:20:09had given the holy sacraments and priestly dispensation to Father Abraham. And in the
00:20:15New Testament, Jesus is said to have been a priest after the order of Melchizedek. Beyond
00:20:22that, we had only the biased accounts of later Hebrew zealots in the Old Testament and equally
00:20:29critical Christian reports from classical times concerning the oldest religion. Before
00:20:34the translations of the recently discovered Rashomra tablets became available in the 1950s,
00:20:42our limited knowledge of the ancient Phoenician mysteries was summed up in such works as James
00:20:48George Frazer's The Golden Bough and Jesse Weston's From Ritual to Romance. Back in
00:20:551969, through the magical medium of the dark mirror, I had contacted the ancient Phoenician
00:21:02goddess Astarte and her consort Prince Baal. I knew that Astarte was the muse of old King
00:21:10Solomon and the inspiration behind his reputation as the greatest magician of the ages. She
00:21:17had inspired him to build a temple for her, and she had inspired us to recreate her religion.
00:21:25Ours was not the first recreation of an ancient pagan seasonal ritual cycle. We were fortunate
00:21:31to have the example of Frederick Adams and Lady Svetlana's Ferraferia to guide us. Their
00:21:37poetic and mystical modern recension of the ancient Greek-Hellucinian mystery festivals
00:21:43marked the beginning of the neo-pagan movement in modern America.
00:21:48We began our yearly seasonal rites performed on the solstices and equinoxes back in 1974.
00:21:56We have performed them four times yearly ever since. Let us return now to 1974, at Montsovat
00:22:04Hermitage in Pasadena, California, when we enacted our first autumn equinox pageant,
00:22:11the Festival of Seven Gates, in which the goddess Astarte descends through seven celestial
00:22:18portals to vanquish Mot, the lord of darkness and death, and resurrect the dead Prince Baal.
00:22:25The actual ceremony was performed at night. What you are watching was a reenactment for
00:22:30the camera filmed in daylight. And though it lacks the drama and mystery of a torchlight
00:22:36performance, we are fortunate to have captured the late pagan elder Joseph Wilson, our Frederick
00:22:42de Jute, and our honored guests, Frederick Adams and Lady Svetlana of Ferraferia.
00:22:49There is more to the symbolism of this ancient seasonal cycle than mere modernization of
00:22:56a Bronze Age agricultural mythology. We are actually dramatizing the primal operations
00:23:02of Hermetic alchemy. In autumn, the goddess bears the life-giving grail down from the
00:23:08holy mountain through the seven gates of the underworld to resurrect the dormant fertility
00:23:13god Baal. This is the origin of the legend of Salovey's Dance of the Seven Veils.
00:23:20Baal's thirst is quenched and he is revived in the western quadrant of water under the
00:23:25sign of Mercury, representing the alchemical process of solution. In winter, the world
00:23:33is threatened by storms and floods brought on by the Dragon of Chaos. Alone, Prince Baal
00:23:39cannot defeat the dragon. He shares his victory with the moon goddess Tenet at winter solstice
00:23:46in the northern quadrant of earth under the sign of salt, representing the alchemical
00:23:51process of separation. In spring, Baal and Astarte are united in the joyous rite of Hieros
00:23:58Gamos, or sacred marriage, at the equinox, which culminates in our communion of the elements
00:24:05ceremony in the eastern quadrant of air under the sign of spirit, representing the alchemical
00:24:11process of conjunction. In summer, Prince Baal, the green man, is killed by the Dark
00:24:17Lord when the sun reaches its height at summer solstice. Then the crops wither and die on
00:24:24the southern quadrant of fire under the sign of sulfur, representing the alchemical process
00:24:31of calcination. And now, it is the eve of the summer solstice, and you have been invited
00:24:38to Rivendell to participate in a magical adventure, the ancient rite of Edonia, the death of the
00:24:45year king.
00:24:47Welcome, friends. Follow me across the bridge and into the world of magic.
00:25:01Come and dance the circle round, the sun is high again. Hail the green man's yearly gift,
00:25:18ripening the grain.
00:25:20Baal's the one, Baal the Dark.
00:25:28Lead us to the sacred ground, the summer has begun.
00:25:32Call the year king with his grail, to serve us everyone.
00:25:37Baal's the one, Baal the Dark.
00:25:45Wind the circle round the hinge, in the solstice rite.
00:25:49Sing the hymn of olden time, praise the lord of light.
00:25:54Baal's the one, Baal the Dark.
00:26:02Come and dance the circle round, the sun is high again.
00:26:06Hail the green man's yearly gift, ripening the grain.
00:26:10Baal's the one, Baal the Dark.
00:26:18Lead us to the sacred ground, the summer has begun.
00:26:22Call the year king with his grail, to serve us everyone.
00:26:26Baal's the one, Baal the Dark.
00:26:34Wind the circle round the hinge, in the solstice rite.
00:26:38Sing the hymn of olden time, praise the lord of light.
00:26:42Baal's the one, Baal the Dark.
00:26:50Come and dance the circle round, the sun is high again.
00:26:54Hail the green man's yearly gift, ripening the grain.
00:26:58Baal's the one, Baal the Dark.
00:27:06Lead us to the sacred ground, the summer has begun.
00:27:10Call the year king with his grail, to serve us everyone.
00:27:14Edonia, the festival of the summer solstice.
00:27:24The drama depicts the death of the year king, at the hand of the dark lord.
00:27:30Opening the season of heat and dryness, in the southern quadrant of the magical circle.
00:27:39Which is ruled by the principle of fire, and the philosophical element of sulfur.
00:27:45Symbolizing calcination, the first of the four primal operations of alchemy.
00:27:51And accomplishing the purification of the spirit, through sacrifice.
00:27:57Harken now unto the myth of the sacred year, with the coming of the summer solstice.
00:28:04When the blazing torch of the gods reaches highest in the heavens.
00:28:09And the fruits ripen on the vine.
00:28:12Lo, prince Baal is at the zenith of his power.
00:28:18Like the gentle rains and the warming sun, that cover the hills with green.
00:28:24The prince of earth brings the blessing of heaven.
00:28:28The golden seminal sacrament of life, unto the celebrants of his ancient rites.
00:28:34And such is the mystery of the holy grail.
00:28:40But that star born crater, was not filled with the wine of blood or death.
00:28:45But rather with the nectar of life.
00:28:48Like unto the straw of the solar lingam.
00:28:52Symbolized by golden honeymead.
00:28:58In the great chalice of the solstices.
00:29:02So it was.
00:29:08So it is.
00:29:12And so shall it be.
00:29:15O youth of many names, receive our praise.
00:29:31To you, O best beloved, we sing our lays.
00:29:38With beauteous temporal orb, restore to sight.
00:29:45And with first fruits and summer flames, delight.
00:30:08Aum.
00:30:24Nata.

00:35:13and a crimson river seeks the sea.
00:35:16Come to us, Lord Baal Cloudrider,
00:35:20Raincloud Rider, Prince of Earth,

00:35:58Chanting
00:36:09The golden dew of heaven,
00:36:18Born of thunder clouds on high,
00:36:22Drink with me this life elixir,
00:36:28Dance ye round till the cup be dry.
00:36:35Chanting
00:36:56Who drinks with me?
00:36:57We drink with thee!

00:37:59Well done, brother!
00:38:02Well done!
00:38:06And it is done.
00:38:14Drumbeat
00:38:18Who dares to roll the drum of battle?
00:38:22Who comes upon me from the north?
00:38:25Who marches on me from the darkness?
00:38:28I, Prince Baal, do call thee forth.
00:38:32Drumbeat
00:38:48I am not thy royal brother,
00:38:52Prince of ruin, death, and gloom.
00:38:56Thou hast had thy fruitful season.
00:39:00Now it is time to seek the tomb.
00:39:05Chanting
00:39:34Chanting
00:39:49Now the crops will parch and wither.
00:39:55Rivers, streams, and wells be dried.

00:40:04I have laid my curse upon thee.
00:40:07Drought and famine evermore.
00:40:11Death and rot and disillusion
00:40:15is all thou hast in store.
00:40:20Chanting
00:40:30Alas, alas!
00:40:33Prince Baal has fallen.
00:40:35The curse of Moat is on the land.
00:40:39Call we now on Theristarte.
00:40:42Only she can stay his hand.
00:40:48Queen of heaven, Theristarte,
00:40:51mistress of the evening star,
00:40:54wave-born goddess, dove of morning,
00:40:57hear us in thy land afar.
00:41:01Come to us on white wings gliding.
00:41:04Come to us on crested foam.
00:41:07Bring to us your love supernal
00:41:10from your emerald-palaced home.
00:41:14Hear our call, O Theristarte,
00:41:17consort of our dead Prince Baal.
00:41:21Lift the curse of Moat upon us.
00:41:24Shield us from the fires of Saul.
00:41:28Grace the land with milk and honey.
00:41:31Save the seedlings in the earth.
00:41:35Grant us hope for all the future.
00:41:39Give us life and love and birth.

00:41:56Chanting
00:42:25I have heard thy call, my children,
00:42:28that at last you cried too late.
00:42:31Here I weep in mourning with you
00:42:34at my lover's yearly fate.
00:42:36With him goes the bloom of springtime,
00:42:39with him pass the gentle rains.
00:42:41He alone could fruit the hillside,
00:42:43he alone could green the plains.
00:42:45Yet am I still queen eternal,
00:42:47star-born daughter of the great El?
00:42:50Seedlings slumber, yearlings prosper
00:42:52under my protecting spell.
00:42:54In the autumn I do pledge ye
00:42:56war to make the dark lord yield.
00:42:58Armed with stock and stone to grind him,
00:43:01I shall cast Moat to the field.
00:43:03Bearing with me heaven's nectar,
00:43:05I shall raise the dead Prince Baal
00:43:07to regain again in winter season
00:43:09with the waxing rays of Saul.
00:43:12Come ye now, mourn him with me.
00:43:15Burn away the blood-borne rose.
00:43:18Purify the soul in sadness.
00:43:21Shed the tears of she who knows.
00:43:42Each rose is the blood of the year, king.
00:43:45Burn it, and thy sorrows be forgot.
00:43:49These waters are the tears of the goddess.
00:43:52Shed them, and thy sadness will pass.

00:46:38When I researched the ancient Canaanite tablets discovered at Ugarit and not translated until
00:46:45after World War II, I made an amazing discovery.
00:46:50Prince Baal was said to have filled a great holy goblet with 10,000 pitchers of wine.
00:46:59This supported anthropologist Jessie Weston's earlier 1920 Phoenician origin theory for
00:47:06the Holy Grail in her book From Ritual to Romance.
00:47:10The Holy Grail and the other Grail hallows are far older than Christianity, older even
00:47:19than Moses.
00:47:21They go back to the days of Melchizedek.
00:47:24These sacred objects, which are the four elemental weapons, the suits of the tarot, and the implements
00:47:31of the magus, are the living heart of our magical religion.
00:47:35They are the instruments of our art, the holy implements of our transformation, and
00:47:40they are central to our most solemn and sacred Eucharistic rite of seven sacraments, the
00:47:47most ancient communion of the elements.
00:47:55It is well known that the four Grail hallows, being the sword, the lance, the chalice, and
00:48:01the shield or platter, are symbolic of the four philosophical elements of air, fire,
00:48:08water, and earth, which in turn represent the four suits of the tarot.
00:48:14What is not so well known is that these symbolic weapons and implements and their use in sacred
00:48:20ritual predate the Judeo-Christian tradition.
00:48:25Recall that the Canaanite priest King Melchizedek gave the sacraments to Abraham a thousand
00:48:31years before Moses and two thousand years before the beginning of Christianity.
00:48:36Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil.
00:48:43Thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
00:48:49Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
00:48:54Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over.
00:48:59Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell
00:49:06in the house of the Lord forever.
00:49:09You are watching a communion service filmed in our Montsouvat Temple back in 1974.
00:49:17In this version of the rite, the magic circle is raised up to be a serving table, and the
00:49:23priestess and the priest officiate from within, while the celebrants circle to receive the
00:49:30sacraments.
00:49:32In this most ancient version of the Eucharist, the chalice is filled with the life-giving
00:49:38essence of fermented honey, rather than the blood and death surrogate of wine.
00:49:44In the Hermetic tradition, we also sanctify and share the aerial incense, the fire, and
00:49:51the bread and salt of the earth.
00:49:53And finally, we anoint the celebrant with holy oil and bestow the kiss of Agape, representing
00:50:01the infusion of spirit, the fifth element, which quickens and enlivens the other four.
00:50:08Thus, seven sacraments are blessed and administered.
00:50:13There are two great mysteries and magics attendant to this rite.
00:50:17The first is the personal transubstantiation of the Eucharist itself, an internal alchemy
00:50:23made more meaningful with the ingestion of a seminal sacrament, which relates to the
00:50:28second great mystery of the Holy Shrine itself, within which the true configuration of the
00:50:34cherubim in the Holy of Holies is revealed.
00:50:39For was it not written in the Sefer HaZohar that in the temple hidden and concealed is
00:50:44the secret of the Holy of Holies, which are the two cherubs of Zahir-an-Pin and Malkuth.
00:50:51The Holy of Holies above is the secret of the Supernal Chokmai and Bina, similarly the
00:50:57groom and the bride.
00:51:14In recent years, our High Communion has been presented in total silence, with spiritual
00:51:30music in the background.
00:51:32The symbolic gestures of our acolytes, our deacon, and our priest and priestess are more
00:51:37eloquent and evocative than words.
00:51:40The deacon gives the charge and opens the temple with a pentagram ritual.
00:51:44The acolytes then enter in procession, carrying with them the grail hallows, and they venerate
00:51:50the elements.
00:51:52The priestess and priest open the shrine to reveal the ultimate mystery and then administer
00:51:57the sacraments to the celebrants.
00:52:00Now let us observe the rite as it was recently performed for our Southern California Magical
00:52:08Community.

01:06:20It can be spoken, translated, and understood by both disembodied spirits and by the magicians
01:06:28who summon them.
01:06:30These Enochian calls were so powerful that they were originally delivered backwards and
01:06:35in reverse order.
01:06:37Only then, after they had been transcribed, could they actually be understood.
01:06:43Dr. D. and Edward Kelly spent thousands of hours over several years gathering and meticulously
01:06:52recording this information from the spiritual entities they had contacted.
01:06:58Although the Enochian spirits claimed to be angels, they were often wrathful, capricious,
01:07:05and even amoral.
01:07:08But they were certainly biblical.
01:07:10They rumbled and thundered in the apocalyptic style of the Book of Daniel and the Book of
01:07:15Revelation.
01:07:16If the later 18th century mystic poet and artist William Blake had lived and died before
01:07:23D. and Kelly began their work, one might even have suspected it was the ghost of Blake they
01:07:29had raised, because both expressions of mysticism are similar in content and implication.
01:07:38There are several systems of Enochian magic.
01:07:41The one we employ is the ascension of the 30 aethers.
01:07:46This derives from an early Gnostic cosmology of 30 aeons, which are spiritually explored
01:07:53in an ascending soul quest toward enlightenment, an earthly presage of the soul's ascent after
01:08:01death.
01:08:02This system uses the four elemental tablets called watchtowers of the universe and a smaller
01:08:09fifth tablet suspended above the altar.
01:08:13This spiritual tablet of union unifies the four tablets at the quarters of the magical
01:08:19circle.
01:08:20In our configuration, a 150 millimeter amethystine scrying orb is mounted above the Enochian sigil
01:08:30of emeth, or seal of God, upon the altar.
01:08:34The first stage of an Enochian ritual is the opening and charging of the tablets.
01:08:41This is called a watchtower opening.
01:08:43It is actually a variation of the golden dawn's greater pentagram ritual.
01:09:19I have power of Mikael, and in the names and letters of the great southern quadrangle,
01:09:32I invoke ye archangels of the watchtower of the south and of fire.
01:09:49I invoke ye archangels of the watchtower of the south and of fire.

01:10:45I invoke ye archangels of the watchtower of the west and of water.
01:11:14I invoke ye archangels of the watchtower of the south and of fire.
01:11:42By the grace of Raphael, and in the names and letters of the great eastern quadrangle,

01:12:12I invoke ye archangels of the watchtower of the west and of air.
01:12:40I invoke ye archangels of the watchtower of the south and of fire.

01:13:36I invoke ye archangels of the watchtower of the east and of fire.
01:14:05I invoke ye archangels of the watchtower of the north and of air.

01:22:35the magical Eucharist, Enochian watchtowers, and the perils of alchemical experimentation.
01:22:42Beyond this lies the vision quest for the Holy Guardian Angel and the profound mysteries
01:22:49of celestial magic.
01:22:52At this point, you might be wondering, what magical tradition do we follow?
01:22:57Do we derive from the Golden Dawn, the Ordo Templi Orientis, or some other hermetic Rosicrucian
01:23:04order?
01:23:05No.
01:23:06The tradition we follow is a hundred years older than the Golden Dawn and the O.T.L.
01:23:13Our initiations are based on the 18th century European rite of Kraterepoa, which was a faithful
01:23:20reconstruction of the classical pagan initiatory rites conducted in ancient Alexandria in the
01:23:26first century of the Common Era.
01:23:29We are of the ancient hermetic tradition.
01:23:33Now, if you will give just a moment's attention to Frater Namus, our director, Greg Jednak,
01:23:40who played Prince Baal in our seasonal ceremony you just witnessed, Greg will introduce you
01:23:47to our other videos and publications.
01:23:53Originally, we released the instructional documentary, The Magic of Solomon, in VHS
01:24:00format.
01:24:01It is now available in an updated, extended DVD second edition.
01:24:08This production dramatically demonstrates Solomon's magical arts of angelic invocation
01:24:16and the evocation of spirits in the dark mirror.
01:24:20At the same time, we released the companion volume, The Book of Solomon's Magic, for
01:24:26students who wish to actually master and practice Solomon's ancient art of magic.
01:24:33We followed our first video with The Dark Mirror of Magic in VHS, which recorded an
01:24:40actual magical operation evoking a remarkable prophecy of world events that afterwards came
01:24:49to pass.
01:24:51This video has also been updated and extended in a second edition DVD version.
01:24:59We published Secrets of the Golden Dawn Cipher Manuscript for students who want to learn
01:25:06the essentials of the Golden Dawn system, and Seasonal Rites of Baal and Astarte, which
01:25:13contains the complete scripts, staging directions, and commentary for all four of our Seasonal
01:25:19Ceremonies, including the Summer Solstice Rite you saw performed in this production.
01:25:26And we have also published two volumes of our occasional journal, The Seventh Ray.
01:25:32The first issue contains the Golden Dawn's hitherto secret document, Book H, from which
01:25:38their Enochian magic was derived.
01:25:41The second issue features our Eleventh Sphere, Tree of Life, with three new tarot cards in
01:25:47full color.
01:25:49These materials are all available from us through our website or through major online
01:25:55distributors.
01:25:58In parting, let me remind you that in your temple you are one with the gods.
01:26:07Farewell, and good magic.
