00:00The short working visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to the United Arab Emirates was a success.
00:06This is because several agreements were established between the two countries.
00:10Kenneth Paciente of PTV Manila returns to the country's news.
00:16Short but productive.
00:18That's how President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. described his one-day working visit to the United Arab Emirates.
00:25During his visit, the Executive Board laid out the country's readiness
00:30to deepen the relationship between the Philippines and the UAE.
00:33The agreements signed there prove that the two countries can benefit from each other.
00:40I look forward to the implementation of several bilateral agreements
00:43in culture, energy transition, legal cooperation, artificial intelligence,
00:49digital economy, the improvement of government activities,
00:52visa waiver for holders of diplomatic, special and official passports, and investment cooperation.
00:59In his visit to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nayyan,
01:04the Executive Board recognized the efforts of the UAE government
01:08to take care of the 700,000 Filipinos there.
01:11The UAE President also praised the great contribution of the Filipino community
01:15in the establishment of the Gulf State.
01:17I thank Sheikh Al Nayyan for understanding that my visit had to be cut short
01:22given the need to attend to relief and reconstruction activities in communities
01:27devastated by successive typhoons.
01:29I also conveyed appreciation for the UAE's government's constant humanitarian support
01:35for victims of these natural calamities.
01:37The President also invited the UAE President to visit the country
01:41to continue the talks and discuss the additional areas of cooperation.
01:47The Chief Executive of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum also assisted.
01:55The two also discussed the strengthening of the partnership between the Philippines and the UAE,
02:00especially in the sector of tourism and investment.
02:04The first step was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation
02:10between the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts of the Philippines
02:14and the Ministry of Culture of the UAE.
02:16Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum also assisted.
02:22She is also the chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority
02:25to provide for the reconciliation of the two countries in the sector of culture and arts.
02:31The President and First Lady Luis Araneta Marcos arrived in the country at 10 a.m.
02:37From PTV Manila, Kenneth Paciente, Balitang Pambansa.
02:44The Justice Department said that the former President Rodrigo Duterte's
02:50actions in the Armed Forces of the Philippines,
02:53which is a fractured governance in the Philippines, is bordering on sedition.
02:58The government also denied that the military has no role in leading the government.
03:02Their duty is to protect the people.
03:05So if they have a problem, the former President of the current government
03:09should pass this through the law and not the call of the military.
03:15We will investigate the words of the former President Duterte
03:21along with other events of this time.
03:26For him to invite the military to have a part in seeking remedy is bordering on sedition.
03:35The military has no role whatsoever in civil governance except to protect the people.
03:43There is no remedy that can possibly come from the military.
03:48If there is any legal remedy, they need to exhaust.
03:53The judicial and legal processes are available.
