00:00What is the most exciting part of your You Have the Power campaign so far?
00:09The most exciting part that we have seen in the past year is our interaction with our youth.
00:18Especially when we are doing our campus caravans, not only here in Luzon, but also in Visayas and Mindanao.
00:25We can see their participation, their willingness to help and learn about energy agencies.
00:36We can see and feel their willingness to help our country, our families.
00:43That is why they are asking for help in the program when it comes to the agency.
00:51Director, how has the campaign evolved since the implementation has just started?
00:58What has changed is that before, we were just talking and giving information.
01:06Now that the year has started and we are helping the PCO, we have become more interactive.
01:12If we go back to last week, we had an awarding ceremony.
01:19Our youth in our schools had contests to make comic strips, animations, and even short films.
01:29And we saw that the concepts that we taught, the concepts that we shared,
01:34they were able to make comic strips that are more relatable to their youth.
01:40That is a huge change.
01:43That is what we expect to do in the coming years, to make our You Have the Power campaign more interactive.
01:51How has the family of Madiscarte and Asyong Aksaya changed while the campaign was in progress?
01:58Are there any changes in their traits and character development to resemble the growth, sir?
02:03You know, for those who are older than us, the concept of Asyong Aksaya,
02:11during the time of our beloved President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,
02:17that concept first came out. It was a comic strip.
02:21The only thing that has changed is that it now has heroes,
02:26ordinary families, the so-called Madiscarte family,
02:31the wife of Bayan and Delen, even their children.
02:36They are foiled, they are against Asyong Aksaya.
02:41They are teaching Asyong Aksaya that they have the power to change.
02:47Asyong Aksaya used to be an Aksaya.
02:50She didn't turn off the lights, she left the curtains open.
02:52This Madiscarte family, they turn off the lights, they close the curtains,
02:58they are looking for opportunities to save money,
03:03to be efficient in using energy.
03:05So now we can see that Asyong Aksaya is also helping.
03:09Maybe in the next cycle of our campaign,
03:12she will not be Asyong Aksaya anymore.
03:15Maybe she will save more money when she joins our next campaigns.
03:19Director, you are here with the You Have The Power campaign,
03:23the schools and communities, what is their role here?
03:27That is a very good question.
03:30The role of our communities, our schools,
03:34and especially our students, our youth,
03:39is to understand the concept and what is more important,
03:43to make it a part of their daily lives.
03:45And we can see, after the event,
03:49our youth, when we help our schools,
03:53they also have energy journals,
03:56they also look at their appliances,
04:00if they are not using them, they pull them out,
04:03and they monitor them.
04:05There are also schools that came back,
04:07and they noticed that when they pulled them out,
04:10they changed the bulb, for example, to a more energy efficient LED,
04:13they saw that there is a reduction in their consumption,
04:17and that is what we want to share in all of these programs.
04:21We are helping our country, our neighborhood,
04:26even our families.
04:29That is a good thing that they will apply in their lives,
04:33and they can see the change in their lifestyle,
04:36and also in their electric bill.
04:38Alright, what is the permanent change that you expect to see
04:42in the You Have The Power campaign, sir?
04:45What we expect is, if we notice here in the DOE,
04:50in the past few years, our consumption of electricity
04:54has increased in certain periods of months,
04:57and because of this campaign,
05:00of course, we will add a lot more,
05:04we can see that it is decreasing,
05:06we can see that the consumption is increasing,
05:09but it is not that high.
05:11We can also see the increase in the use
05:14of energy efficient appliances,
05:17and there is more awareness among our youth.
05:21We expect that when we go back,
05:24if we go back to other schools,
05:27we will see that they will continue to implement this program,
05:31and we also hope that our goal is,
05:33now, the next batches, for example,
05:37they will also share their good experiences
05:41in this program.
05:43Director, will the creative contests continue,
05:47like animation, comic strips, and filmmaking,
05:50in the next year?
05:52And what else should we look forward to in our campaign?
05:55Our campaign in You Have The Power will continue,
05:58our partnership in the Presidential Communication Office
06:01and in our schools.
06:04So, we expect that in the upcoming year,
06:07we will have a fresh round of creative contests,
06:11because we can see that when we give our youth
06:15concepts and opportunities,
06:18their creativity will be enhanced,
06:21they will be more engaged,
06:23and our campaign will be more effective.
06:25Okay, last but not least, Sir Patrick,
06:27what are your reminders to our viewers,
06:30especially those who are responsible
06:33for the use and consumption of energy, Sir?
06:36Now, during Christmas,
06:39those who have bonuses,
06:41we will quickly say,
06:43let's choose a more energy-efficient appliance.
06:46This is the label we see,
06:48more stars or higher numbers,
06:50you will be able to operate more efficiently.
06:52Now that it's a bit cold,
06:54maybe we can use an electric fan
06:55so that we don't have to use air-conditioning in the winter.
06:59And our biggest reminder to our countrymen,
07:03You Have The Power.
07:05Energy efficiency starts with you.
07:07Let's join together in the new Philippines.
07:10Thank you very much, Director Patrick,
07:13for sharing details about
07:15the You Have The Power project
07:17of the Department of Energy.
07:19Thank you, Sir Patrick.
