00:00The legal cooperation cluster of the NTF-LCOC in arresting the three so-called National Democratic Front Consultants was suspended.

00:09This is what Ryan Lesigas reported.

00:13You can't use JASIG as a shield for you to be protected from committing crimes here in the Philippines.

00:22In October this year, the three so-called National Democratic Front Consultants were arrested.

00:28They are Proferio Tuna, Simeon Naugsan, and Wigberto Villarico.

00:35The CPP-NPA-NDF immediately dismissed them because for the terrorist group,

00:40it was illegal and baseless what the government did.

00:44Because they were protected by the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees or JASIG.

00:50But the Legal Cooperation Cluster or LCC of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict or NTF-LCOC,

00:56which is fully justified, legal and moral,

00:59the arrest and imprisonment of Tuna, Naugsan, and Villarico

01:04under the exclusive permission of the Office of the Solicitor General Justice Angelita Miranda,

01:09chairperson of the LCC.

01:11The arrest of the three was carried out in accordance with the Standing Warrant of Arrest

01:15initiated by the court for heinous crimes such as kidnapping and murder.

01:19The answer to that question that they were illegally arrested,

01:23a resounding no.

01:25You know why?

01:26The arrest of these individuals, the three individuals who were mentioned early on,

01:30are lawful and were made in accordance with Standing Warrants issued by competent courts.

01:37At the same time, Miranda insisted that JASIG cannot be used as a deterrent

01:43because it has been broken for a long time.

01:45In 2017, former President Rodrigo Duterte broke JASIG after it was lost

01:51due to the betrayal of public trust of the NPA.

01:54Miranda also said that the termination of JASIG is a very critical move

01:59to stop JASIG from being used as a deterrent to criminal impunity.
