00:00The Panokwalang Pambansang Pondo has joined the Bicameral Conference Committee for the next year.

00:05Although it is admitted that the discussion will be complicated, Senator Chiese Escudero believes that the budget will be approved before the session break.

00:19In the beginning of the Bicameral Conference Committee for the 2025 National Budget,

00:24the Senate Committee on Finance, Chairperson, Senator Grace Poe, and her fellow lawmakers had an immediate meeting.

00:31My only plea is for us, conferees, not to take ourselves too seriously.

00:37If the discussion is too heated, we may need to have a coffee break to settle our differences.

00:44But let our differences become our strength.

00:47Let's use them to create a budget that's balanced, equitable, and pro-people.

00:53It is expected that some of the hotly debated bills will be the budget for the Office of the Vice President

00:59and the assistance for the Kaposangkita Program or ACAP.

01:02House Speaker Martin Romaldes is confident that the budget they are discussing is a budget for all different sectors.

01:10Let's keep things practical and straightforward.

01:13We don't need to overcomplicate this.

01:16Let's focus on what will make the biggest difference for the Filipino people.

01:22The programs that matter, the services that they rely on, and the investments that will move this country forward.

01:31Those should be non-negotiable.

01:33We may have different approaches, but the outcome must be the same.

01:39A budget that works for everyone.

01:41According to Senate President Francis Escudero,

01:44they want to enter the deadline of their discussion on the budget,

01:48even though he admitted that the discussion will be complicated.

01:52I expect that by next week,

01:55before we adjourn for the Christmas break,

01:58this will be completed.

02:00The conference panel will discuss this

02:04and will give it to the President before Christmas

02:07for him to review and discuss this before the upcoming year.

02:18to meet the needs of the Filipinos,

02:21especially with inflation.

02:23As we move forward, let us find ways to reconcile our differences

02:29and ensure that our efforts align with the programs and priorities of the present administration.

02:42one that reflects our shared commitment

02:45to build a stronger, more equitable, more resilient Philippines.

02:51A technical working group was formed

02:53to discuss the differences between the two versions of the Congress.
