00:00The Rice For All program is set to launch in December, making affordable rice available
00:05not only at Katiwa and Pangolo outlets, but also in public markets.
00:09The initiative aims to provide more accessible rice options for Filipino families.
00:14Despite the implementation of Executive Order 62, which reduces tariffs on imported rice
00:19from 35 percent to 15 percent, which is expected to lower the prices of rice, regular and well-made
00:25rice to 37 to 38 pesos per kilo, current market prices remain between 45 pesos and
00:3155 pesos a kilo.
00:33According to DA Assistant Secretary Arnaldo Mesa, the program seeks to encourage retailers
00:38to comply with proper pricing.
00:41Once the program begins, well-made rice will be available at 42 pesos per kilo without
00:46any purchase limit, ensuring fair access for consumers.
00:50The DA plans to roll out the program initially in public markets across Metro Manila, with
00:54provincial markets to follow shortly after.
00:57The agency is also studying measures to address non-compliance by rice retailers in maintaining
01:03fair prices.
01:04It's one way to correct the market.
01:07It's supposed to be that our retailers should pay the price of regular and well-made rice.
01:14As we mentioned, if Katiwa is able to sell rice at this price, it could serve as a reference
