00:00We're here at Taiwan's largest international airport, from where Taiwan's President Lai
00:05Jintao will make his first official trip abroad since he took office in May.
00:10His first stop will be Hawaii, and that's billed as a layover, not an official visit,
00:16and the details of what he'll do there have not been released.
00:19China has already cautioned the U.S. is in danger of supporting Taiwan independence by
00:24hosting Lai.
00:26After visiting Hawaii, Lai will visit three of Taiwan's official allies in the Pacific,
00:32the Marshall Islands, Tuvalu and Palau.
00:35So this is a very sensitive trip, one that has already ruffled China's feathers, but
00:40Lai has said that Taiwan will keep going out in the world, and that this is an important
00:45opportunity to build friendships in the region.
