00:00Now, as all football fans in Scotland will know, Kilmarnock's Killie Pie has traditionally
00:09been the gold standard of matchday food in Scottish football. However, this survey, which
00:18relied on TripAdvisor reviews, found that, in fact, Killie have lost top spot, dropping
00:24down to second behind Ross County. So, in the interest of good journalism, we decided
00:31there was only really one way to find out. Now, a couple of things I should say on how
00:35we're going to judge this. We're going to be looking at the pastry, the texture. We
00:41want that to be a nice crispy outside with a little bit of chewy on the soft top. That's
00:46how I like my pie. The meat is going to be really important. We're going to want the
00:52meat to be soft. We're not going to want it to be chewy at all. We're going to want
00:57a nice, good quality of beef. The gravy is also going to be important, a nice, well-seasoned
01:04gravy. So, we'll start with the Killie Pie. Now, I've got that right here. I've had a
01:11Killie Pie before, so I know what to expect here. I know it's a good pie, but let's just
01:15dive in and see what we think. Good. Very, very good, you have to say. The thing that
01:26always hits me straight away with a Killie Pie is the gravy. It's just such a nice, tasty,
01:32well-seasoned beef gravy. Lovely, crispy pastry. Nice and soft in the right places. Yeah, good,
01:42quality meat. That's a really strong pie, as expected. There's a reason that's been the
01:47best pie in Scotland for some time. Killie Pie is obviously widely available across Scotland,
01:54not just in Ayrshire, by Browning's the Bakers. I got mine in my local Aldi. I'm pretty sure you
02:00can get them in the spa. Yeah, a really, really good pie. It's really easy to see why that's
02:07been considered the best for so long. But, let's have a go at this pie from Ross County
02:15and see what we're up against. Yeah, I might have, pardon the pun, bitten off more than I can chew
02:24here. That is another really top quality pie. The peppercorn sauce, first of all, I can't really
02:33judge them against each other based on that because they're different flavours, but I've
02:36not had peppercorn sauce in a pie before. That's a really nice combination. But again,
02:43really nice, soft shell with a crispy top. Good amount of gravy, really tender meat.
02:51Really difficult, I think. I'm gonna have to go back in for seconds. It's gonna be the only way
02:55we're gonna do this. Yeah, do you know what? Football grounds all across Scotland, I've had
03:09pies everywhere and they're all, it's hard to get a meat pie wrong. Like, I mean, I know I talked
03:16about the quality of the beef, but listen, it's a mass-produced savoury pie product. We're not
03:22expecting Wagyu beef as important as good quality beef is. I'd say they've both got a good quality
03:28beef in there. Neither of the meat was chewy or gristly at all. So really equal on that.
03:37Really equal on the pastry, like both lovely crusts and nice crispy tops. I think we've got
03:44to say, as much as the survey did say Ross County overtook Kilmarnock, and it's a really
03:52good quality pie, definitely get one of those if you're ever up at Victoria Park in Dingwall,
03:58but I've got to give this one to the Killie Pie. I've got to give it to the OG,
04:03to the gold standard for so long, I think. But the thing that's swinging it for me, it's just
04:10that gravy in the Killie Pie is just tier one, honestly. Really tough decision, two really good
04:19quality pies, but for me, Killie Pie is still the best Scottish football pie in Scotland.
