00:00Their identity is soft as much as it is scared, they're afraid.
00:03They play scared.
00:04They coach scared.
00:05They coach scared.
00:06They're, like, afraid.
00:08Right from their first decision was, do we start Drake May week one?
00:12They were too afraid to do it.
00:13Scared to death.
00:14They were scared.
00:15Yeah.
00:16Right from week one.
00:17Like, they've never been bold, aggressive, and, you know, a team that is trying to win.
00:23Like, Shaughnessy puts it perfectly.
00:24Yeah.
00:25They're afraid.
00:26They're not coaching to win.
00:27They're coaching not to lose.
00:28They're scaredy cats.
00:30That is the team identity.
00:31And I think on some level it trickles down to the players, but my bigger gripe is the
00:34way they coach it.
00:36That's their identity.
00:38And you just know, any time there's a big decision in the game, they're going to go
00:42conservative.
00:43Can't trust them.
00:44They're going to go soft.
00:45They're afraid to turn it over as opposed to trying to go win the game.
00:49And I think, Keith, that's born out of job security.
00:53I think everybody down there is worried about losing their jobs and making an egregious
00:56mistake and screwing it up and getting fired for it and being held accountable for it.
01:01And so they wind up making terrible decisions out of being conservative.
01:05They're afraid.
01:06Yeah.
01:07That could be.
01:08And you hope that they can see Drake May and that kind of snaps them out of it.
01:11It'd be like, all right, are we doing the best for him?
01:14And this is the guy that can lead us out of this.
01:16Like, this team has stunk for a couple of years.
01:18You have the quarterback now.
01:20You can give him opportunity like, yeah, he might turn it over every once in a while.
01:24Not the end of the world.
01:26But he also is going to make a lot more plays.
01:27Like, if you give him the chance to make more plays, I think they're going to outweigh any
01:30kind of negative play.
01:32So it's one thing to coach that way when you have Jacoby Brissette or if you had Mack Jones
01:36or Bailey Zappi.
01:37You don't have that guy.
01:38You don't have any of those guys anymore.
01:39You have Mack.
01:40You have Drake May.
01:41So let him make plays and hopefully that can change them a little bit.
01:46Now, it's a combination, right?
01:48You're going to need Alex Van Pelt to call a little bit more aggressive play calling.
01:52But then also Gerard Mayo, when it comes to those overall head coaching decisions,
01:57you know, when to punt, when not to punt, like just how aggressive you are, what's fourth
02:00down territory, what is and all that stuff.
02:02I don't know if you're going to get a big major change from those guys.
02:05But you would think if they want to keep their jobs, that has to be one of like the selling
02:10points.
02:11Like, all right, I know we started out really conservative, but like we feel like now we
02:14have the confidence in Drake May.
02:16This is this is what's better for the team going forward.
