00:00The Philippine Coast Guard also accepted the gift from our fellow fishermen in the West Philippine Sea.

00:06The Philippines, however, is looking forward to PICG as allowances to continue to fish in our territory.

00:12PTV's Bel Custodio has the news.

00:17Mang Jhunjhun is a native of the Negros Oriental but he chose to fish in the West Philippine Sea

00:23because he's more accustomed to catching fish

00:26But the last of the Chinese ships in the West Philippine Sea was caught red-handed.

00:30Last time, ma'am, when we first arrived here in this area, we were immediately stopped.

00:40Was that frequent? Were you stopped?

00:42We were transferred by other ships. We were caught by INOXDA.

00:48We were harassed. We were brought down by the rebels.

00:54We were forced to leave. We were forced to go home.

00:56In the past, they were able to fish in the Sabina Shoal.

00:59But now, it's dangerous.

01:01Sometimes, there are three or two.

01:04Sometimes, there's a Chinese snippy.

01:08It's a threat.

01:11For more than a decade, they've been fishing.

01:15Arnel became a witness to the few fish caught in the West Philippine Sea.

01:19We are free to fish here because no one is watching.

01:24Before, it was very difficult to fish here.

01:28But because of the Philippine Coast Guard,

01:31they are now more free to fish in areas where they can't go to.

01:36It's a big help to us.

01:39If we were to go to another area with the Philippine Coast Guard,

01:44we would be able to go there.

01:46Because they are protecting us.

01:48So that we can go to our area.

01:50So that we can catch good fish.

01:52For the Philippine Coast Guard,

01:54under the orders of our President, Marcos,

01:57and our Commander-in-Chief, Admiral Ronny Hilcaban,

02:00we are ensuring that,

02:02despite our limited number of Coast Guard vests,

02:05in times of need for our Filipino fishermen,

02:09the presence of the Philippine Coast Guard,

02:11or the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources,

02:14and the Armed Forces of the Philippines,

02:17you can count on us to help.

02:20We will do everything we can

02:23to ensure that our Filipino fishermen are free to fish.

02:29And we will help to counter the harassment of the Chinese government.

02:34This is the direction of our National Task Force West Philippine Sea

02:38to encourage more Filipino fishermen to fish in the West Philippine Sea.

02:43Because their wealth in the West Philippine Sea is for the Philippines.

02:47Now that December has entered,

02:49the PCG also added more Christmas gifts for fishermen.

02:54The intention of the Commander-in-Chief,

02:57every time we patrol the West Philippine Sea,

02:59not just in Luzului, but even in Bajo de Macinlo,

03:03is because Christmas is coming,

03:06to have gift packs, grocery items.

03:10At least we can give joy to the Filipino fishermen.

03:19for their help and support to our fishermen.
