00:00:00Our young adults seem to be full of confidence in the way they speak, dress, look and act.
00:00:18But when I look into their eyes, there is a lot of fear, insecurity and sometimes indifference
00:00:24reflecting back.
00:00:26Obviously, the outer facade is just a cover-up.
00:00:31Being a mother of two young adults, aged 22 and 19, I sense this with my own kids at times.
00:00:39I feel overwhelmed imagining what their future will be like.
00:00:45Today I see my kids and their peers mostly holed up in their rooms staring at a computer
00:00:51screen for hours at end.
00:00:54They seem to be uninterested in what is happening outside.
00:01:00They are lost in their own inner worlds, perhaps because we as parents have failed to provide
00:01:05them with something meaningful.
00:01:08Recently a good friend's son was arrested for assaulting a cop on duty when he was stopped
00:01:14at a Nakabandi and asked to produce his papers.
00:01:23Acharya ji, I sense this pent-up frustration and anger amongst our young adults.
00:01:33I feel a sense of helplessness because I too am frustrated at the current state of affairs.
00:01:42I can only imagine what they must be going through.
00:01:46Acharya ji, please can you talk a bit on our youth and how best to guide them?
00:01:52Devan Ketuchi.
00:01:53Anusha, are you surprised when you look at a six-month-old or three-year-old or six-year-old
00:02:19and you find him eager for his food, comfort, security, entertainment,
00:02:43oblivious of all other worldly or otherworldly concerns, do you cry out, why is this three-year-old
00:03:11lost in his little self and little world, why is he not eager for liberation?
00:03:25How many three-year-olds have you found longing for liberation?
00:03:35Have you found it?
00:03:47Not only do you not accuse the kid or the boy of not being enough of a seeker, you
00:04:10in fact find his ignorance towards everything but his own comfort as cute, don't you?
00:04:39It is a norm and it is a very acceptable norm with us, is it not?
00:04:50Three-year-olds will be three-year-olds.
00:04:58Similarly do you feel worried?
00:05:07When you look at an animal busy doing what animals do, does that look apocalyptic to you?
00:05:28Do you say the end of the world is surely near?
00:05:36Because the deer has no interest in the scriptures, deers do what deers are supposed to do.
00:05:59Three-year-old human kids do what three-year-olds are supposed to do.
00:06:05But when it comes to young members of the species Homo sapiens, then we somehow have
00:06:21very romantic expectations.
00:06:27We mean to say that if a human being is young, he should naturally be full of light, eagerness
00:06:49to learn.
00:06:50Let's look at what all you expect from them.
00:07:04senselessness, interest in the affairs of world, humility, meaning and purpose in life.
00:07:26I'm asking you from where is this idealism coming?
00:07:31Why do you expect these things from young human beings in the first place?
00:07:43You have quoted Swami Vivekananda as saying, the minds of our modern youths are like storehouses
00:07:48of multiple complexes such as sex complex, fear complex, ego complex, inferiority complex.
00:07:58Hidden in your eagerness is an image, an ideal and all ideals spring from an obliviousness
00:08:24to the fact.
00:08:33Very ideally, you are assuming and desiring that a young person should be free of the
00:08:53complexes and compulsions of sex, fear, ego and comparison.
00:09:00Why must it be like that?
00:09:05What entitles you to think and demand that just by virtue of having attained a certain
00:09:14age, a human being should be free of sex, fear, ego, inferiority and many many other
00:09:27bad things.
00:09:35You look at a Swami Vivekananda and then you want the others to be like that.
00:09:44But a Swami Vivekananda is not normal, he is an aberration, he is a great exception.
00:10:00Just by looking at him, if you start assuming that all young human beings by default should
00:10:12be like him, then you are missing the fact of what it means to be a human being.
00:10:25Look at the life cycle of the ordinary human being.
00:10:31We say he is designed to live till 100, he is designed to live till 100, when does he
00:10:42begin to procreate?
00:10:47At 12, 14, it is under the influence of civilization that you push him to delay his reproductive
00:11:03activity.
00:11:04Otherwise when it comes to Prakriti, physical nature, she prepares him or her and pushes
00:11:17him to indulge in the sexual and reproductive act even at the age of 10 or 12 or 14.
00:11:28Now that's quite interesting because the man is supposed to live till 100.
00:11:43But the sexual act does not start somewhere close to the midpoint.
00:11:52It does not start at 30 or 40 or 50.
00:11:58In fact, even before one reaches midway, the sexual act actually starts tapering off.
00:12:18If 100 is how long one is supposed to live, then by 50, the sexual zeal has mostly diminished.
00:12:37It is at its peak not when you are 40 or 50 or 60, but when you are just 15 or 20.
00:12:45What does it tell you about this so-called glorious period called youth?
00:12:55Has Prakriti prepared you for greatness?
00:13:04Greatness in the likes of Swami Vivekananda is a great exception.
00:13:10Prakriti does not prepare you for greatness.
00:13:13Prakriti prepares you for creation.
00:13:21All this great upsurge of energy that you see in youth is not meant to break their chains
00:13:32or raise a fire that would unfetter them.
00:13:40All this great energy that we so fondly talk of in youth is actually aimed at just furtherance
00:14:10of the Prakritic motives.
00:14:15So first of all, let's keep our expectations in check.
00:14:23First of all, let's not unduly assume that youth is the golden period of one's life.
00:14:34First of all, let's not assume without fact or reason, young is to be desirous of freedom.
00:14:52It is not so.
00:14:56And therefore, what you are seeing in today's youth is just normal.
00:15:16In worldly language, natural.
00:15:27The boy has reached 20.
00:15:31What is he supposed to do?
00:15:37Look at the massive universe and wonder about its secrets?
00:16:00Think about how insignificant he is in the greater order of things?
00:16:13Look at the birds and the bees and say, oh, all this is but Maya.
00:16:21Do you see that in animals?
00:16:27Do you see that in kids?
00:16:33Then why do you expect that the youth would magically turn into great lovers of truth and freedom?
00:16:53You are saying, oh, the youth are so full of sex, fear, ego, and inferiority.
00:17:04Do you equally lament it when you see that the kids and the old ones are full of sex,
00:17:13ego, fear, and inferiority or superiority?
00:17:17No, you don't lament it then.
00:17:22I have not heard anybody come and say, you know, sir, all the octogenarians and the nanogenarians,
00:17:35they are so full of ego, they don't have the desire or energy for liberation.
00:17:45Neither have I heard somebody come to me and say, my Pintu is now six years old, but
00:17:52he has no yearning for God, but then it becomes quite strange.
00:17:59The fellow has no feeling for freedom when he is six and you don't find it odd.
00:18:12The fellow has no feeling for freedom when he is 60, that too you don't find odd.
00:18:20But when the fellow is 25, then you expect that somehow magically, just like Swami Vivekananda,
00:18:30he too will turn into an ideal seeker, renouncing everything, sacrificing everything for the
00:18:40sake of inner joy.
00:18:45Why would he do that?
00:18:50What is it about attaining a certain age in life that makes you think that one would be
00:19:01full of zeal and energy and compassion and great love for the truth?
00:19:11Nothing.
00:19:14The Mishra, six is 16, 16 is 26, 26 is 46, 46 is 86, nothing changes.
00:19:24When you are six, you behave as your DNA dictates you to behave at six.
00:19:32When you are 26, you behave just as your DNA dictates you to behave at 26.
00:19:39And when you are 66, you behave just as your DNA dictates you to behave at 66.
00:19:48We are just another species of animals.
00:19:52Why do you forget that?
00:19:55Just because in between, once in a few centuries, you get somebody like Swami Vivekananda who
00:20:10seems to defy the Prakritic order, we start thinking too big of ourselves.
00:20:21We disrespect and undervalue Swami Vivekananda so much that we feel that what he did was
00:20:28fairly normal, easy and common.
00:20:33We want that to be the norm.
00:20:37We say, oh, if he could do it, why are the other youth not found doing it?
00:20:42And when they are not found doing it, then we regret and lament and complain.
00:20:48Do you see that it is based on an underestimation of what it means really to be a Swami Vivekananda?
00:20:59If we could really see that he was an heterogeneous, an unthinkable aberration,
00:21:29an Everest in a landscape, crowded at best with plateaus, then we would not demand that
00:21:50every normal youth be free of fear and lust and ego and self-centeredness.
00:22:12We compare ourselves to the ideal that is Vivekananda and when we find ourselves short,
00:22:20then we say, oh, the times are so bad, we are not even Vivekananda.
00:22:27You know, it really is Kali Yuga.
00:22:39I am not able to match even Vivekananda, excuse me, what did you just say?
00:22:50It suits a Vivekananda to be free of lust and fear and ego.
00:22:56Others will be others.
00:22:59Why do you expect them to be abnormal, if not paranormal, they are not supposed to be.
00:23:12In fact, if they act as if they are Vivekananda, then they will be putting up a facade, as
00:23:20most youth do.
00:23:30Now they are stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea.
00:23:36If they are being themselves, which is, if they are following their animal instincts,
00:23:41then you say, oh, you are unnecessarily putting up a facade, as you have mentioned in your
00:23:47question.
00:23:54Is it not so, let's think over it, that if they try to act spiritual, then they are really
00:24:05putting up a facade.
00:24:16I know what I am saying, it's not idealistic, most people will not find it uplifting or
00:24:23motivating, but then I find facts more valuable than any kind of motivational fiction.
00:24:50You are saying youth has pent up frustration and anger, and there is no dearth of literature
00:25:11and opinion that suggests that youth is angry and frustrated, because there is no freedom
00:25:19in the world.
00:25:23Is that really so?
00:25:27Is the youth really clamouring for freedom?
00:25:29Ask them, why are you frustrated?
00:25:36How many of them would really say, we want to be free of our ego, and that is why we
00:25:42are frustrated.
00:25:44What is it that makes them frustrated?
00:25:46If you want to know that, see what is it that would quell their frustration or calm them
00:25:52down, offer them money, offer them sex, offer them some weed, offer them comfort, and all
00:26:08the frustration and anger is gone.
00:26:11It's not so.
00:26:14Is it real of you Nimisha, to think that the youth are frustrated and angry, because they
00:26:20are not getting enlightenment?
00:26:23Seriously?
00:26:26I am again asking you, at 8, he didn't want enlightenment, even at 48, you will not find
00:26:36him wanting enlightenment.
00:26:37What makes you think that at 28, he should be full of urge to seek enlightenment?
00:26:44He does not seek it.
00:26:46He is not designed to seek it.
00:26:58Look at man's configuration.
00:27:02What makes you think that a kid is born to be a Swami Vivekananda?
00:27:12What makes you think that a woman is born to be one of the greats, a Meera or a Mari?
00:27:24Neither Meera Bai nor Mari Curie.
00:27:33It's an imposition upon her, if you constantly push her the Meera or Mari way.
00:27:44She starts menstruating at 12, now what is Meera and what is Mari?
00:27:53The boy starts masturbating at 14, what is Swami Vivekananda?
00:28:00And often you don't even have to teach him to masturbate.
00:28:04It comes to him in your language naturally, you don't have to teach it to him, even if
00:28:14he is living in a cave, he would learn to explore his body.
00:28:29Why bring Swami Vivekananda into all this?
00:28:36You are the distant star.
00:28:47Let us continuously and steadfastly remember who we are, otherwise we start thinking too
00:29:02much of ourselves.
00:29:07Otherwise we start feeling as if enlightenment is a birthright and seeking enlightenment
00:29:15is a fundamental duty.
00:29:18Neither is enlightenment a birthright nor is a human being obliged in any way to seek
00:29:28freedom or liberation.
00:29:31Human beings are designed to eat, sleep, have sex and die.
00:29:56If you expect anything beyond this from them, that is when they will get frustrated and
00:30:03they will rebel.
00:30:15You know of the rebellious youth movement of the 60s and 70s, the counterculture.
00:30:24You know of the hippies.
00:30:28I do not know how many of them were getting God.
00:30:31But what is certain is that most of them, probably all of them were getting good sex.
00:30:38That's what the youthful rebellious energy is all about.
00:30:46How many hippies got God?
00:30:51How many of them got good sex?
00:30:58Rare, utterly rare is a human being of any age
00:31:20who is magically implored from within to chart a totally different way.
00:31:37It has always been and would always remain a sensational exception.
00:31:51The others will continue to do what they are designed to do.
00:32:00And to you Nimisha, if you expect otherwise from them, it's almost like crying in despair
00:32:18when you don't find a donkey reciting the Gayatri Mantra, oh, it's a young donkey, and
00:32:35you have expectations.
00:32:36You feel that a young person must be full of reverence for the scriptures.
00:32:44Why do you forget that?
00:32:52Youth is just another period of the life cycle.
00:33:09Prakriti invests in you that tremendous energy at that time so that you can produce babies.
00:33:20And that's what your principal concern will be.
00:33:23I want babies.
00:33:27Have you ever wondered why old people don't procreate, rather can't procreate because
00:33:34they don't have enough energy.
00:33:36And Prakriti says, drinking up a baby, raising a kid requires a lot of physical energy.
00:33:46So it is not a coincidence that you exhibit the peak of your reproductive activity, sexual
00:33:54activity when it is coinciding with the peak of your energy levels.
00:34:02Don't you see the coincidence?
00:34:06The peak of your energy levels coincide with the peak of your sexual activity.
00:34:15So what has Prakriti given you all this energy for?
00:34:21Isn't it obvious?
00:34:24Prakriti has given you all this energy so that you can chase men and women.
00:34:36This energy has not been given to you so that you can climb up the Himalayas and meditate
00:34:41there.
00:34:42This energy has been given to you so that you can run after the woman, pick her up,
00:34:47please her five times a day.
00:34:56When you look at Swami Vivekananda, you feel the energy is there so that the fellow can
00:35:02crisscross the country on feet, raise awareness among the masses, exhort them towards freedom.
00:35:10No, look at the chimps, our cousins and you will realize what all this energy is for.
00:35:19What does a chimpanzee use his youthful energy for?
00:35:24He uses that energy to beat down the other male chimpanzees and secure the most fertile
00:35:34females among the lot.
00:35:38That's why we have all this energy.
00:35:44Let's lower the expectations a little.
00:35:52In fact, by the time you cross 50, don't you see that your sexual urge diminishes?
00:35:58Even Prakriti knows that by the time you gain a little sense owing to your life experiences,
00:36:12you would probably not be so deeply interested in the meeting game.
00:36:21So Prakriti says, before you gain any wisdom, any sense, any experience, it is important
00:36:33that you do what I command to do.
00:36:37That work should be given the top priority and must get finished off as quickly as possible.
00:36:48So you become sexually eager just as you cross your childhood.
00:36:57Prakriti does not want to wait even a day after that.
00:37:04The day you are not a child, you are immediately sexually eager.
00:37:08Prakriti says, first things first.
00:37:12Your freedom, your wisdom, your liberation, all can wait.
00:37:19This thing must take the first priority.
00:37:24Now what has happened is, civilization has blocked that.
00:37:35So we have passed laws that say, the girl has to be 18, the boy has to be 21 and if
00:37:45she is below 16, then it becomes an even more heinous offense.
00:37:55And the social structure is such that you say when 18 and 21 are no good, you must first
00:38:02of all earn, have a career, be economically secure.
00:38:09So 21 gets pushed to 25 or 28 and so there is frustration, nothing else.
00:38:35When I was in class 12th, we had this novel, Lord of the Flies, and at that time I had
00:38:57wondered, rather resented, why this kind of a novel is being taught to impressionable
00:39:07students.
00:39:08We were just 16 or 17.
00:39:15Those who are from the ISC board might know, Lord of the Flies, William Golding.
00:39:22I forget that there is a generation gap.
00:39:26ISC is not what ISC used to be.
00:39:29You have read that one?
00:39:36So what was it about?
00:39:41It's the Second World War and a group of school kids from Britain, they lose their way while
00:39:54on a flight.
00:39:55They are probably being taken to a secure location given that the war is raging.
00:40:02But somehow the plane loses its way.
00:40:08It lands on a desolate island, bereft of any trace of any civilization.
00:40:19The pilot is dead and the kids are on their own and the kids vary from 5 year olds to
00:40:31probably 15 year olds and the entire novel is about how the kids very very quickly turn
00:40:47into beasts and they are from a very prestigious school of one of the most developed nations
00:41:02on the earth.
00:41:05They actually don't turn into beasts.
00:41:08Man is a beast.
00:41:11It is under the transforming effect of civilization that man appears to be a little different
00:41:26from a chimpanzee or some other animal.
00:41:31Otherwise that's what we are, beasts.
00:41:39Why do you expect Nimisha that the young people would naturally be like the sannyasis
00:41:53of Swami Vedananda?
00:41:55Why should they be that way?
00:42:06The climactic scene with which the novel is eponymous sees the kids slaughtering one of
00:42:18their own and putting up his severed head on a stick
00:42:33and the flies on the island have all shrouded that head and the head is hardly visible.
00:42:43So lot of the flies and then there are a couple of more deaths, a couple of more murders rather.
00:42:53They almost turn into cannibals and all this within a matter of a few months.
00:43:01Our civilization is a facade.
00:43:04It doesn't take long for the veneer to come off.
00:43:21Remove fear, remove police and remove the incentives towards civilized behavior and
00:43:32very soon you will see how much of Swami Vedananda is there in today's youth.
00:43:55Nimisha Ranoi felt grateful that the novel was a part of the syllabus.
00:44:02Far better to know the facts than to wallow in ideals.
00:44:16The serious, austere, simple, energetic, fearless, truth-loving young man is an idea.
00:44:42He really does not exist.
00:44:54He has to be brought into existence by someone who is exactly that which needs
00:45:12to be brought into existence.
00:45:15Before we talk of Swami Vivekananda Nisha, let's talk of Ramakrishna Paramhans.
00:45:22There would have been no Swami Vivekananda had there been no Paramhans first of all.
00:45:27Swami Vivekananda don't drop off from the sky.
00:45:31They are raised, they are made, they are given birth not by their mothers but by somebody
00:45:36like Paramhans.
00:45:37Where is Paramhans?
00:45:38Swami Vivekananda was an ordinary man, Narendra and he too had his ordinary pursuits.
00:45:58It was the magical touch of Paramhans that turned him into Vivekananda.
00:46:09And he wasn't too eager either.
00:46:14Many a times he ran away from Ramakrishna.
00:46:31Sometimes in the name of family responsibilities, sometimes in the name of education, sometimes
00:46:36because he was just bored with this ordinary devotee of Dakshineshwar temple.
00:46:56It's a gigantic task.
00:47:08It doesn't just happen on its own.
00:47:20If you leave the youth to how they are, it is not liberation that would happen.
00:47:32Procreation would happen.
00:47:34On its own liberation never happens, procreation happens.
00:47:39That you don't have to teach.
00:47:48But we somehow have a feeling that liberation is cheap.
00:47:52It too should happen on its own.
00:47:53Why must it happen on its own?
00:47:56When we complain that our sons and daughters are not like Vivekananda, Nivedita, we must
00:48:10first ask ourselves, are we like Ramakrishna and Sharda?
00:48:19If we are not like Ramakrishna and Sharda, how will our sons and daughters be like Vivekananda
00:48:23and Nivedita?
00:48:28I repeat, fruits drop from trees.
00:48:38It is automatic, it is prakritic, it just happens.
00:48:45Man does not automatically get liberated.
00:48:51Man does not even have a conscious innate desire for liberation.
00:49:01It is not there.
00:49:02In fact, if somebody has it, it is unnatural, unnatural in the prakritic sense.
00:49:09One is not supposed to have it, how will you have it?
00:49:14Even Vivekananda would not have it, had it not been aroused in him by an external agency.
00:49:28Anybody can just have it, except maybe let's say one in a million, one in a billion.
00:49:33We should not even talk of them.
00:49:38They are some kind of manufacturing problems.
00:49:46They are God's mistakes.
00:49:59They cannot be taken as the rule.
00:50:01They cannot be taken as ideals.
00:50:16Throughout his childhood, the fellow was interested in toys and sweets, right?
00:50:24When he would play with fellow kids, he would either be violent or afraid.
00:50:32And we would say, oh, this is per the course for kids.
00:50:39This is how kids are, right?
00:50:44And when he turns 15, then we say, why is he not turning towards wisdom literature?
00:50:53Why must he turn towards wisdom literature?
00:50:59A six-month-old baby, you go close to him, you want to kiss his face.
00:51:12And what does he do?
00:51:16He extends his little fingers and clasps at your necklace.
00:51:27Then do you complain that the fellow is so materialistic?
00:51:31I wanted to kiss, but all he was looking at was my necklace.
00:51:38And you know that babies do exhibit exactly this kind of behavior, right?
00:51:45Go close to them, and they'll want to grab whatever they can.
00:51:51Not God, something material.
00:51:56The virgin goes to them, they will, this is from experience.
00:52:06And the grip is firm.
00:52:12The fist won't open too easily.
00:52:19And when you try to force it open, then the kid would cry.
00:52:30You see the fellow has an inclination towards fisting right from that age.
00:52:41He wants to hold stuff here.
00:52:48And then you don't say, why is he not like Swami Vivekananda?
00:52:53Why does he not approach people with palms wide open?
00:52:58One denoting that I came with nothing, the other denoting that I will go away with nothing.
00:53:04Then you don't say.
00:53:05Then you say, he is but a baby.
00:53:08It is very natural that he is clasping at everything.
00:53:13Tomorrow he clasps at money, at security, at all these things that you are complaining
00:53:19against.
00:53:20Then why do you find it odd?
00:53:24Just as this fist was trying to clutch something, similarly at some other age, this same fist
00:53:36is used to clutch the genital.
00:53:43Don't you see it's the same stream?
00:53:48Why complain against it when it comes midway?
00:53:54Its very origin is in darkness.
00:54:01How do you expect it to magically transform all by itself when it reaches the mid ranges?
00:54:13It won't.
00:54:26The clasping fist, is it not symbolic of babies across gender, nationality, religion?
00:54:40This is what you will find little kids always exhibiting.
00:55:06Instead of forcing an idealism upon them, Nimisha, it would be far better if we first
00:55:27of all have them realize that beneath the wheel of civilization, we are 100% apes and
00:55:47chimpanzees and even this civilization is an attempt gone badly wrong.
00:56:11It was supposed to raise us from the jungle, instead it has been such a botched up attempt
00:56:28that it has repressed us.
00:56:34That which needed to be elevated could not be elevated, so to hide the failure it has
00:56:42been repressed.
00:56:44Are you getting it?
00:57:00And that has given rise to the dark and dirty subconscious mind, which is a storehouse of
00:57:14all kinds of frustrations and desires and pent up urges.
00:57:34If you will force kids to behave differently than their prakritic selves, their jungle
00:57:53selves, their chimpanzee selves, then they will do that with persuasiveness and punishment
00:58:12and incentive.
00:58:14You can succeed in getting the youth to behave in an ideal way, but I assure you beneath
00:58:25that ideal behavior, an angry chimpanzee would still be lurking and the chimpanzee would
00:58:34now be very very angry.
00:58:40Why would he be angry?
00:58:41Because he is being made to act like Swami Vivekananda.
00:58:47Inside a chimpanzee and outside he has been forced to behave as a Swami.
00:58:56You see a lot of that in circus, don't you?
00:59:03The elephant is walking on two legs and shaking hands with kids.
00:59:08How do you think he is actually feeling?
00:59:11That's how our civilized youth are, especially spiritually civilized youth.
00:59:18The chimpanzee is speaking in French and reciting Sanskrit verses.
00:59:31Inside he is swearing he'll have a super go at you whenever he can get half a chance.
00:59:58There was this parrot who was being made to ride a bicycle, a little bicycle.
01:00:06How do you think the parrot is feeling?
01:00:15That's how the youth today are feeling.
01:00:27You want to elevate their consciousness, right?
01:00:31First of all, you must know what elevation really means.
01:00:35And you must know even before that, where do you want to elevate them from?
01:00:44It is a problem if you do not know where you want to go.
01:00:47It's a far more massive problem if you do not know where you are standing.
01:00:55You can be helped if you do not know where to go.
01:00:58You cannot be helped if you do not tell where you are standing.
01:01:02I need help.
01:01:03I need help.
01:01:04But where are you?
01:01:05That I do not know.
01:01:11First of all, tell the youth where they are really standing, tell them that they are chimpanzees
01:01:18as we all are.
01:01:20It's not an insult.
01:01:21It's the fact of our physical existence.
01:01:25It's not a humiliation.
01:01:31Don't unnecessarily eulogize the human birth.
01:01:38Don't say that because you are born as a biped.
01:01:47And your surname is Singh or Shukla or Johnson.
01:01:57So you are destined to do great things.
01:02:01Tell them that it doesn't matter that you are born human.
01:02:08The fact is you are an animal.
01:02:12And you better know that.
01:02:13You better fully, fully acknowledge that all your natural instincts are towards physical
01:02:26security, continuation, procreation.
01:02:30That's what you continuously want.
01:02:33And you should never, never forget this.
01:02:37Teach this to the youngster.
01:02:40Teach this to the youngster even before he turns young.
01:02:45Let him know this when he is eight years of age.
01:02:55When he looks at the dog going after the bitch and asks, Mama, what's this?
01:03:04Tell him human birth.
01:03:06We all are born as a result of this and we are all born to do this.
01:03:14Man is a dog, woman is a bitch without exception.
01:03:20That's what this entire drama is about.
01:03:24And no amount of economic progress, technical sophistication or civilizational advancement
01:03:32can hide that or should hide that.
01:03:38That's what man's basic energy is, libido.
01:03:44You can give it fascinating names, all right.
01:03:53Teach this to them.
01:03:57And when they encounter the fact of their savagery in all its bloodiness, then maybe
01:04:06a repulsion and inner repugnance would arise and that would be transformational.
01:04:14But there can be no transformation without an intimacy with the fact.
01:04:21If the fellow is thinking, as most of us do, that we are special just because we were
01:04:27born in a hospital and not in a jungle, then too bad for us.
01:04:45Man might find it humiliating.
01:04:57The ego finds it absolutely scurrilous that after centuries, rather millennia of development
01:05:08and progress, one is still to be called an animal.
01:05:18But we must acknowledge it because that is the fact and every kid must be taught this.
01:05:28Then there would be the one odd little Narendra who would say, I hear this, I know this to
01:05:38be true as a fact, but I don't like this.
01:05:42There's something in me that revolts against this.
01:05:48And then let him walk out of the classroom and discover a paramhans.
01:05:55And then there is some possibility of a real Vivekananda taking birth.
01:06:03You do not get them cheap, Nimisha, please.
01:06:10It's almost like asking, why aren't diamonds falling from the skies and complaining and
01:06:17crying hoarse?
01:06:18Oh, there was a hailstorm, there was a hailstorm.
01:06:22Why didn't I find precious stones in them?
01:06:26Why must you find precious stones in them?
01:06:28A hailstorm will give you water, frozen water.
01:06:38What makes you think that you will find diamonds amongst hills?
01:06:43How did you come to have this expectation?
01:06:47What makes you think that you will just find a Vivekananda amongst usual human beings?
01:06:59I bought 5 kgs of mangoes and now I'm weeping so badly.
01:07:05Why?
01:07:06Because none of the mangoes contained emeralds.
01:07:13I cut them all open.
01:07:16All I found was a normal seed, a big one.
01:07:30Mangoes will be mangoes, chimpanzees will be chimpanzees.
01:07:42A human chimpanzee cannot just turn into a Vivekananda, drop the expectation.
01:08:02Instead teach him that he is a chimpanzee.
01:08:09Sounds brutal, but would be helpful.
01:08:14That's what he needs to hear and acknowledge.
01:08:18I am a chimpanzee.
01:08:23Don't just go about telling him, no, no, you are God personified.
01:08:28When God wants to visit earth, then he takes birth as a kid.
01:08:34Stop all this nonsense.
01:08:35There are too many people who have actually hypnotized themselves into believing that
01:08:44they are the true self or silence or Atma or Brahman.
01:08:55Even chimpanzees are mocking him.
01:09:02Imagine one of them saying, I am Brahman.
01:09:12And then rushing towards the nearest fruit or the nearest female and constantly reciting,
01:09:23I am Brahman, Brahmanzi.
01:09:37That's a good name for most spiritual seekers, especially those who believe that they have
01:09:43attained Brahmalinta, Brahmanzi.
01:09:58Next time you find yourself energetic, just ask yourself, if this prakritic energy is
01:10:07arising in me, surely prakriti wants just one thing from me.
01:10:15And then you will be left aghast and very disappointed with yourself because you will
01:10:20find that behind all the reasons that you assign to yourself, ultimately there are just
01:10:31these few basic primeval things that you want.
01:10:43It would be shocking and it would be humiliating, but it would be real.
01:10:49Let's for a change give value to reality.
01:10:59Look at your likes, dislikes, urges.
01:11:10If this session were happening in a forsaken place, dark and damp, you wouldn't have been
01:11:23probably so eager to attend.
01:11:30Here you are far more agreeable, ask yourself what is it that makes me agree to this environment
01:11:42rather than a so-called inferior environment.
01:11:49And even here you will find prakriti motives.
01:12:03The more you will scrutinize your behavior, actions, thoughts and intentions, the more
01:12:10horrified you will be.
01:12:13All the time there is just fulfillment at the material level that we are seeking.
01:12:22It would be truly horrifying to discover.
01:12:27Even when we say that we are spiritual seekers, it is actually material fulfillment that we
01:12:34are targeting.
01:12:39And if you can look at your life, your actions and intentions with that brutal honesty, then
01:12:51it is possible that out of sheer disgust towards yourself, you say, I'm dropping myself.
01:13:03But without that ruthless honesty, you will just keep believing that you are a lover of
01:13:21truth.
01:13:23Will you remember this?
01:13:31You're not born to be lovers of truth.
01:13:34Each of us is born as a lover of flesh.
01:13:42So if an inner voice says I'm doing this for the sake of truth, I'm doing this because
01:13:47I like truth, don't believe it too easily.
01:14:05If you'll go closer, if you'll investigate, you will find that all attempts, all intentions,
01:14:16all likes and dislikes, all decisions, ultimately boil down to just the prakritic narrative.
01:14:25Food, comfort and sex.
01:14:30That's what we live for.
01:14:33That's what we act for.
01:14:34And that's what we die for.
01:14:42That's what we are kids for.
01:14:46That's what we are young for.
01:14:48That's what we are old for.
01:14:55What is the fellow going to the temple for food, comfort and sex?
01:15:03What is the fellow giving birth for?
01:15:05What is the fellow committing suicide for?
01:15:22One thing that you should stoutly resist believing in is your own piousness.
01:15:33That's your greatest propaganda against yourself.
01:15:39I am pious.
01:15:40I have holy intentions.
01:15:44Come on.
01:15:54What do you think?
01:15:55Fake news are a recent phenomena and WhatsApp can't ban it.
01:16:07You don't have to forward it to others.
01:16:09You invert it to yourself.
01:16:14I am pious and I have holy intentions.
01:16:20This was the first piece of fake news invented by man.
01:16:32Never forget that the intentions of the chimpanzee are just food, comfort, sex.
