00:00Different game developers in Mindanao joined the Level Up Game Development Challenge of DOST

00:05where they demonstrated their talent in making video games.

00:20These game developers felt mixed emotions

00:24after winning the first Level Up Game Development Challenge of DOST in Mindanao

00:32and receiving a prize of P70,000.

00:36First, I was very nervous.

00:38And then, second is that we didn't really expect it.

00:43We couldn't believe that we won.

00:45It was just like a team project, randomly came out of our minds.

00:52The video game they made, Langit Lupa, was one of the most popular games of that time.

00:57We've been seeing the latest generations right now.

01:01Some of them don't remember what game it was.

01:04We want to make the game timeless.

01:07Aside from Langit Lupa, here are the aspiring game developers

01:11from Mapuha Malayan Colleges, Mindanao.

01:14Their game, Cordillera Chronicles, was one of the Philippine mythical creatures

01:19who became champions in the student division of the competition.

01:22According to Abdul, it was an unexpected win for them.

01:26We went to the competition expecting to provide as a developer student

01:33for the culture in the Philippines.

01:36And we ended up being the champions.

01:38And we are really honored to be the champions of the first Level Up DOST Challenge.

01:44This competition is part of the advocacy of DOST

01:48to promote the culture of our country using e-sports and technology.

01:53The agency also established a partnership with the E-Sports World Federation

01:59to have a wider connection with Filipino game developers

02:03such as 96 Studios and Exxelsior Mapuan Creatives.

02:07This is where we show the creativity of our fellow Filipinos

02:12and you know that our government provides a lot of support

02:16when it comes to the creative industry.

02:18And DOST has a lot of support in the creative industry.

02:22Secretary Solidum Jr. also gave a lot of support

02:25because of programs like this.

02:27A lot of foreign investors are willing to invest

02:31or give jobs to Filipino game developers.

02:34This is what our aspiring developers can expect

02:38when DOST will have more programs like this.
