00:00The Bengals are 1-7-1 score games, which is just insane to think about.
00:04They are 0-2 against the AFC North when scoring 38 points.
00:10Think about that.
00:11They scored 38 against the Ravens.
00:13Loss.
00:14Score 38 against the Steelers.
00:16Loss.
00:16You're at home in both situations and you don't win either of those games.
00:21Cannot happen.
00:22And yet that's the reality that we're talking about today with the 4-8 Cincinnati Bengals.
00:27And Joe Burrow said a lot of interesting things.
00:29We posted the entire video right here on CBT.
00:32But the good news is, is I have a couple of clips that stood out the most to me
00:37and I think are pretty telling.
00:40The first of which was when Joe was asked about the AFC North
00:45and asked about needing to change things to be better in the division.
00:51And he was pretty blunt that, yeah, things need to change.
00:54I would say we need to change a lot of things this year.
00:58We haven't been good enough.
01:00We haven't been good enough to win games.
01:01So it starts with your division.
01:04You always want to win those and we haven't.
01:08So we got to do a better job.
01:11It goes without saying that the Bengals have to be better in the division.
01:14It goes without saying that they have to be better in one score games.
01:17But now that they're 4-8, what do they have to play for?
01:21What do they have to keep them motivated?
01:26Well, I thought that this was really interesting from Joe
01:30because this is Joe sort of letting everyone know that,
01:34hey, no one's been good enough and you might not be here next year.
01:39There's been a couple of times where Joe's talked about,
01:41well, you put the film out there for all of the GMs,
01:45all of the teams across the league and you want to put out good tape
01:49because you never know where you're going to end up.
01:52And that's always his goal.
01:53That's always his mindset as a player.
01:55And so he wants the guys in the locker room to feel that and be that way too
01:59and have that mentality.
02:00But I thought that this was really, really interesting,
02:04Joe Burrow, on what the next five weeks mean,
02:08not only to him, but to all of the guys in the locker room
02:11that are still on this roster.
02:13Yeah, I think we'll learn a lot about who we have in the locker room,
02:17the guys that we can count on going forward, the guys that we can't.
02:20And I think the next six weeks, five weeks,
02:28are going to say a lot about who we can count on and who we can't.
02:32That's Joe Burrow letting everyone know in that locker room,
02:35hey, you want to be here?
02:37You want to be part of it?
02:38You want to be part of the turnaround?
02:40You better show it.
02:41Letting everyone know what time it is.
02:44That's what I take from those two comments.
02:46The fact that he said,
02:48we're going to find out who we can count on and who we can't is huge.
02:53And last week, I did a video on, all right,
02:55well, these are the young guys that need to step up.
02:59It's that plus all of the veterans, the Geno Stones.
03:05Hopefully Sheldon Rankins can get healthy,
03:06and then we can include Sheldon Rankins in this.
03:09But these guys that you're like, all right, well,
03:12can we bank on you or can we not?
03:14And I know everyone wants to cut all these guys,
03:16but that's what you're evaluating now,
03:20is all of these guys that you're either going to cut,
03:23potentially release, draft the replacement,
03:26sign the replacement in free agency.
03:28All of those things start to happen.
03:30And so if you're Joe Burrow, you know that,
03:32and you better start laying that foundation now.
03:34And so I thought that those comments were interesting.
03:37This was not the angriest I've seen Joe after a loss,
03:41the most distraught I've seen Joe after a loss by any stretch.
03:44I think he kind of just knows.
03:46He knows the situation, knows what this Bengals team is or isn't.
03:52And man, oh man, the defense getting a lot of heat, rightfully so.
03:58Tomorrow, I plan on discussing the future of certain coaches,
04:03what changes should be made coaching staff-wise.
04:06But I thought that this comment was just wild.
04:09And it's really a clip.
04:10And it was about a three-minute interview.
04:12We posted the entire thing after the game
04:14in our Bengals React video that we did.
04:16But Jermaine Pratt was asked about missed tackles.
04:21And there were obviously missed tackles.
04:23It was in the double digits.
04:25I'm recording this on Monday morning.
04:26Luana Ramos set to talk to the writers at some point on Monday, I believe.
04:31And so we'll know how many missed tackles the Bengals tallied.
04:34I know Pro Football Focus had it at 14.
04:37My buddy Jay Morrison had it at 16.
04:40The point is they had a lot of missed tackles.
04:43So when you're captain in Jermaine Pratt, you're a leader,
04:47a guy that was on the Super Bowl team, a guy that was on the AFC Championship team,
04:50a guy that has been around for the good and the bad, drafted in 2019.
04:55For him to kind of be this clueless, this dismissive, this, eh, what missed tackles?
05:04After you give up 520 yards to mostly checkdowns for Russell Wilson, it's unacceptable.
05:11Here's what Jermaine Pratt had to say about missed tackles.
05:14Missed tackles?
05:15No.
05:17Did you feel like there were a lot of missed tackles?
05:20Not that much, I don't think.
05:22I just think that it was just getting the ball out quick.
05:25It's quick game and the screens.
05:27Could it be a matter of not being in the right position?
05:29I'm just saying like, it was just screen.
05:31It was quick game.
05:32They weren't really, they weren't doing too much.
05:34Just getting the ball out quick.
05:35Was it hard to swallow a loss when you give up more than 500 yards in total offense?
05:40Oh, I said like, it was just screens.
05:43And then if we went zero, he just threw like a quick, quick.
05:46It was balls quick.
05:47He wasn't that much.
05:48Why was it difficult to defend those screens since they had so much success on it?
05:52Why did they have so much success?
05:53The ball was out quick.
05:54That's all it was.
05:55Quick, those.
05:56Is that an adjustment that could have been made mid-game to change the way they were
05:59having so much success?
06:00I mean, doing quick.
06:02Missed tackles?
06:03What missed tackles?
06:04I don't think there were many there.
06:05I mean, I just, I think it's so funny.
06:10It would be like, it would be like the Steelers dismissing Joe Burrows passing yards.
06:18Like, passing yards?
06:19What passing yards?
06:21What quarterback?
06:22Like, there were so many missed tackles.
06:24There were so many guys in the wrong spot.
06:26There were so many guys that were unable to wrap up and tackle the way they should.
06:31George Pickens, I think, was a great guy.
06:34George Pickens' 17-yard screen pass touchdown, where he essentially goes untouched and Cam
06:39Taylor-Britt doesn't keep contain on the outside and Geno Stone whiffs.
06:43It can't happen.
06:45And yet it did.
06:46Jermaine Pratt had missed tackles.
06:48Akeem Davis-Gaither had missed tackles.
06:49The secondary had missed tackles.
06:51It just cannot happen.
06:52And yet it did happen.
06:54And that is a big reason why the Bengals are 1-7 in one-score games.
06:58And that one is when they were up two scores and the Browns scored late.
07:03So they stink in one-score games, is basically what we're saying, ladies and gentlemen.
07:07And that is why they are 2-4 when scoring 33 points or more this year.
07:12Un-ba-lie-va-ble.
07:15And yet, it's true.
07:16The Bengals are 4-8.
