00:00Let's be witty and polite. Stick to the script.
00:04Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best moments on the groovy sitcom
00:10that 70s show that may not have been in the original script, but we're happy they made it to the screen.
00:15Look at me, I'm an attractive man. Well, I got you!
00:21Number 20. Cleaning the tub.
00:23There are more than a few character breaks on this show, and we love seeing Deborah Jo Rupp break.
00:28This episode sees Bob and Midge's tumultuous relationship come to a head when Bob walks out
00:33on her and spends far too much time at the foreman's house for Red's liking.
00:36But the fact of the matter is, you're a little bit... you're kind of a... you're an ass.
00:45Red and Kitty discuss who will clean out the tub that Bob used,
00:48and they reach a stalemate early in the episode.
00:50I won't do it.
00:53Well, I won't either.
00:53Well, I don't know what the hell we're gonna do.
01:00By the end, Kitty gives in, but Red can't let her go through with it.
01:03When he calls out for Eric to do it instead, we see Kitty laugh, and even though this is unplanned,
01:09we think her amusement at Red's solution adds to this whole storyline.
01:13Eric, got a little job for you.
01:15Number 19. Jackie smiles.
01:17After Eric and Donna's breakup, the rest of the gang is forced to choose sides.
01:21Table? Oh, you are so gonna win this breakup!
01:25They decide to split their time between the two, which leads to them hanging out
01:28in Donna's living room as opposed to their regular hangout in Eric's basement.
01:32Donna's dad Bob takes this as an opportunity to entertain them,
01:35and for some reason, he chooses to sing What's New Pussycat to his daughter's friends.
01:40Not only does he not quite do Tom Jones justice, but he also manages to crack up his castmates.
01:46Even though they're supposed to look bored and annoyed,
01:48Mila Kunis is visibly laughing as he sings, and we can't say we blame her.
01:53What's New Pussycat? Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, woah.
01:58Number 18. Love chickens.
02:00Kurtwood Smith and Deborah Jo Rupp clearly had a great time on the set of that 70s show
02:05playing the parents of Eric and the de facto parents of the rest of the gang.
02:08So, love birds. Are the big wedding plans coming along?
02:13They manage to crack each other up a few times throughout the series,
02:16and this moment is one that always makes us laugh.
02:19In the fifth season of the show, Red tells Eric and Donna that they should get married in a week.
02:24Even though it's supposed to be a serious moment, when Red calls the couple
02:27love chickens, he and Kitty lose it.
02:30I mean, heck, it'd be a real shame if you chickened out. Then you'd be a couple of love chickens.
02:35We now know that they do chicken out of getting married, so this joke really comes home to roost.
02:41Number 17. Whipped cream head.
02:43There's no end to the funny and memorable moments shared between this group,
02:47and a lot of those moments have taken place in the infamous circle.
02:50One of the least likely members to find himself in the circle is definitely Red Foreman.
02:55But in this episode, he is found in it along with a bottle of whipped cream.
02:59I'm telling you, this stuff isn't just for cakes. It's great all by itself.
03:06Surrounded by a haze of smoke, he sprays the whipped cream on his head and proclaims himself
03:11whipped cream head. He tries to keep it together enough to get through the rest of his line,
03:14but bursts out laughing. And we immediately do the same.
03:25We're just disappointed that this sequence was all a figment of Hyde's imagination.
03:29Number 16. Red slips.
03:32If there's any TV dad out there that you don't want to upset, it's probably Red Foreman.
03:37So, when this prank goes wrong, the boys narrowly escape without a foot in their asses.
03:48When Hyde, Fez, and Eric try to prank Kelso, they enlist Red's help.
03:52But he accidentally becomes the victim when he comes through the basement door
03:55and ends up with oatmeal all over him.
03:57Kurtwood Smith must not have been prepared for the amount that would drench him,
04:01as we see him slip slightly on the oatmeal.
04:04What the hell is this?
04:06This wasn't Smith playing it up for laughs. The oatmeal was, as you can imagine, pretty slippery.
04:11Luckily, he caught himself, but we can't help but think how mad Red would have been
04:14if he had taken a tumble.
04:16Well, I have a prank too. One where my foot doesn't plow through your ass.
04:22Let's hope it doesn't go horribly, horribly wrong!
04:26Number 15. Kitty goes spinning.
04:29In this unscripted moment, Kelso almost takes Kitty down in the wake of another one of his
04:33chaotic scenes. One of the most memorable guest stars on That 70s Show is Brooke Shields,
04:38who plays Jackie's mom. And in this scene, Kelso is a little overly excited to see her.
04:44One bronzed-up tart in the room and all the men turn into a bunch of oversexed fraternity boys.
04:49Kitty hosts a cocktail party, and when Ashton Kutcher's character shows up,
04:53he abruptly opens the door in a rush to see what Pam's wearing,
04:56and apparently accidentally knocked Kitty's leg in the process, sending her flying backwards.
05:02What's she wearing?
05:04The director liked the take so much, he decided to keep it in the final cut.
05:09Number 14. Explore life.
05:11Here we go again with Kitty in red form and breaking character,
05:14and we really can't get enough of it.
05:17In this episode, Kitty's twin sister Paula comes to visit.
05:20Paula, you're so pink.
05:23Oh, well, sure, sure. I've got to match my brand new car.
05:28Kitty clearly feels envious of her sister's seemingly glamorous life,
05:32and she tries to compete with her in humorous and over-the-top ways.
05:35Well, good for you. It must have been hard living in my shadow,
05:41because I was popular and you weren't, and I had a life and you didn't. That's right,
05:45I said it, you heard me, you were a schlub, a schlub.
05:50In the end, she talks to her husband as she reflects on her own life.
05:53When talking about how she wants to explore it more, it's Deborah Jo Rupp who cracks up,
05:58causing Kurtwood Smith to join her, and we are right there with them.
06:01From now on, I am just going to explore life.
06:06But you're all pretty now with your big red lips. Isn't that enough?
06:15Number 13. Wrestling in the circle.
06:17There are only four episodes in the series that include
06:21all six of the main teen cast members in the circle at the same time.
06:24I gotta call Major Nelson's sexuality into question here. I mean, any guy who's got a
06:28half-naked genie, he's got her doing more than his laundry.
06:31With this being the first instance, they clearly took the opportunity to have some fun. This
06:36episode is a nostalgic trip for the gang, as they talk about their memories growing up with
06:40their friends while they prepare for their class pictures.
06:43Hey, wouldn't it be funny if my last name was Seek? You know, hide and seek.
06:49That's stupid. And you owe me a quarter.
06:53All of these moments already have us loving this close-knit group even more than usual,
06:58but seeing them improvise a friendly wrestling match in the circle solidifies them as a fun
07:03loving group, both on and off camera.
07:05Number 12. Kelso hits the door.
07:08It's clear that Ashton Kutcher put on a masterclass in improvisation in his role in this
07:12series, and it started as early as the first season.
07:15Okay, look, man, you brought this on yourself.
07:17I have no idea, but that's no reason for me to suffer.
07:20When the group goes on a ski trip after Jackie and Kelso split, he is left in the dust. After
07:25talking to Eric about it in his kitchen, Kelso follows him to the driveway and trips on the
07:29door on his way out.
07:31Come on, man. Come on, man.
07:33He wouldn't be Michael Kelso if he wasn't hilariously graceless, and we're happy this
07:38unplanned moment helped shape his character into the one we know and love.
07:42Number 11. Eric's smirk.
07:44It's no secret that after Hyde moved in, he became the son Red always wanted.
07:49So, when his biological dad reappears, it causes some rifts.
07:53Hey, Red, man, you're looking good.
07:56Have you lost, um, hair?
08:00Steven will be right out.
08:01However, there is plenty of comic relief throughout the episode while this whole scenario
08:05unfolds, like this one between the Foremans.
08:08One of the funniest moments is an off-the-cuff one from Red when Eric laughs while his dad
08:12ironically talks about the complexities of father-son dynamics.
08:16In an unplanned moment, Red tells Eric to wipe the smirk off his face,
08:20prompting both Eric and us to laugh even harder.
08:23Look, the bond between a father and a son is complex and subtle.
08:29You wipe that damn smirk off your face!
08:31Number 10. The tears.
08:34Goodbyes are always emotional, and the finale of That 70s Show is no exception.
08:39I mean, I kind of wanted to ring in the new year by throwing out
08:41all your corduroy boy pants.
08:44Well, classes start on Monday and Eric gets back at five,
08:46so I just want to, like, get out of here before all the drama.
08:49As the characters reminisce about their long, strange trip and what lies ahead for all of them,
08:54the waterworks are much in evidence for everyone.
08:57But while the sadness of these scenes is scripted,
08:59the tears and emotions of the actors are authentic for most of them.
09:03I am just, I'm just so happy we're staying because I would miss you so.
09:11Laura Prepon, who plays Donna,
09:13reportedly had difficulty even performing as she was so overcome.
09:16And Donna, sweetheart, no matter where you go, I will always love you like a daughter.
09:26We can hardly blame her or any of them.
09:28It was hard enough saying goodbye to the characters through the screen.
09:31We can only imagine how tough it was in person.
09:48Number 9. The Laughter
09:50From sadness and endings, now let's return to the beginning and joy.
09:55During the very first episode, the guys begin their tradition of sitting around
09:59in a circle having conversations where they're clearly under the influence.
10:02Like there's this guy who invented this car that runs on water, man.
10:07It's got a fiberglass air-cooled engine and it runs on water.
10:11When Hyde begins discussing the infamous car that runs on water, man,
10:15actor Danny Masterson couldn't keep a straight face and laughed.
10:19No, it's a car.
10:22Only you put water in the gas tank instead of gas.
10:27And it runs on water, man.
10:33The camera then turns to Kelso slash Ashton Kutcher, who has absolutely lost it.
10:38Both of them managed to carry on with the scene,
10:41and their laughter only lent more authenticity to the vibe of teenagers getting high in a basement.
10:50Number 8. Make It After All
10:56When Jackie is tired of the single life, she drags Donna to a bar to help her find a new guy.
11:01Unfortunately, her attempts to find an older man
11:04only bring her to someone who used to be involved with her mother.
11:07On the car ride home, Donna tries to cheer Jackie up,
11:22comparing her sad look to Mary Tyler Moore.
11:25It works, and Jackie quotes the theme song to the actress' titular show,
11:39throwing her hat just like Moore does.
11:42Except the hat hits Donna in the face,
11:44and both Mila Kunis and Laura Prepon seemingly struggle to stay in character.
11:54Well, at least it made the scene after all.
11:57Number 7. Cat Killer
11:59One of the worst mistakes Eric ever makes
12:02is accidentally running over Donna's cat, Mr. Bonkers.
12:16While discussing how he should break the news to her with his parents,
12:19Eric receives some less than helpful advice from Red.
12:25His father advises a blunt statement that he is a killer of felines,
12:37only to break down.
12:38Actor Kurtwood Smith was clearly tickled by the line,
12:41and couldn't contain his laughter.
12:55Still, he manages to collect himself enough to stay mostly in character.
12:59Plus, his gleeful laughter only makes Eric and Kitty's horrified looks even funnier.
13:04Number 6. Fez Wrestles Donna
13:07While the Foremans have a garage sale,
13:09Eric laments to Donna that he can't join her at the movies,
13:12since Red would likely kick his ass.
13:24When Donna remarks that she can too,
13:28the two of them engage in playful wrestling.
13:31However, a nearby Fez jumps in to wrestle Donna as well.
13:40This was something allegedly decided on by the writers on set,
13:44who decided not to tell anyone but Fez's actor, Welmer Valderrama.
13:49Laura Prepon is clearly having a case of the giggles during the event,
13:52and her and Topher Grace's clueless reactions elevate an already entertaining moment.
14:04Number 5. Hosed Down
14:06After Donna goes on birth control,
14:08Eric gets the sex talk from his parents,
14:10and he finally gets around to talking about doing the act with Donna.
14:23Despite going on the pill, she wants to wait for the right time.
14:30Eric is naturally rather eager,
14:32half-jokingly asking repeatedly if now is the right time.
14:46After Donna leaves, Red walks up and sprays Eric down with a water hose.
14:51Even if this was in the script,
14:53actor Topher Grace was still clearly unprepared,
14:56and his panic and disbelief at getting soaked are certainly authentic.
15:01It's for Eric's own good, and for the good of some great comedy.
15:12Number 4. Table Trip
15:14Kelso's not exactly the brightest or most coordinated of characters to begin with.
15:21But one of his earliest pratfalls wasn't in the script.
15:34During the show's first Christmas episode,
15:36Kelso leaps over the couch in his eagerness to talk to Eric's sister Lori.
15:40Except Ashton Kutcher missed the target and slammed his shins hard on the coffee table.
15:52While he valiantly manages to stay in character,
15:55Lori's actress Lisa Robin Kelly has a genuine reaction to the mishap.
15:59Lori may not be impressed with Kelso's lack of conversation skills,
16:03but we're definitely taken with Kutcher's ability to keep it together.
16:18Number 3. Hello, Wisconsin
16:21The show's theme song is as integral to the overall 70s vibe of the show as anything else.
16:37Although it's quite possible that many little bits of business the characters do
16:40while cruising in the Vista Cruiser were improvised,
16:43we can only confirm one, and it's the only dialogue from the sequence.
16:47After the theme song concludes, Hyde yells out,
17:02According to one of the series co-creators Mark Brazile,
17:05this exclamation was improvised by Hyde's actor Danny Masterson.
17:09It's a small thing, but when it's featured in nearly every single episode,
17:13it certainly adds up.
17:18Number 2. Kitty's dance
17:20During Donna's bachelorette party, she, Jackie and Kitty go to a strip club.
17:24While Donna takes the opportunity to reconnect with Kelso's brother Casey,
17:28Jackie and Kitty are entertained by the strippers.
17:41Kitty gets really into it,
17:43and does an absolutely hysterical dance while watching a guy do one-handed push-ups.
17:47According to Deborah Jo Rupp herself,
17:50no one, not even her, knew what she'd do until the day of filming,
17:54so the other actors were dying of laughter.
18:06The blooper reel for the episode can attest to this,
18:09and given how funny Kitty is here, we are not at all surprised.

18:34Number 1. Cracking up
18:37Eric is distraught after finding out the girl he has a thing for likes his dad instead of him.
18:47He makes the classic mistake of telling his friends about it.
19:01They take the opportunity to repeatedly roast him over the situation,
19:04with Hyde delivering one of the most savage burns in the whole show.
19:18And while there's no one unscripted moment here,
19:23it's clear that the actors do not have to fake their laughter at all,
19:26as they're all having entirely too much fun
19:29losing it throughout at the admittedly hilarious jokes they're telling.
19:41It's this kind of authentic laughter that makes that 70s show feel special even today.
19:47Which unplanned moment had you cracking up? Let us know in the comments.
