00:00Carpet pythons can grow up to 12 feet long and are widespread throughout eastern Australia.

00:09They have a number of heat-sensitive pits along their bottom jaw that help them hunt

00:14warm-blooded prey like rats and mice.

00:17Though non-venomous, carpet pythons have a powerful bite that can cause serious lacerations

00:23and puncture wounds.

00:26The snake is moving deeper behind the wall.

00:29So he's come out of the retaining wall.

00:32The team may only get one chance to grab the python before it disappears completely.

00:37I reckon if you go straight in here, grab that section there.

00:42I reckon his head's just up from that.

01:54When they're in a situation like that, often as soon as you grab the snake, they just tense

01:59up and they push against everything and they try and lock their head around stuff.

02:03But sometimes you just got to play the gentle card, just slowly work him out.
