00:00After representing the Philippines in the last Paris Olympics 2024,

00:05there's a new achievement.

00:07Our national athlete, Nesty Petesio,

00:10it's official!

00:12Nesty will be promoted from 2nd Petty Class Officer to 1st Class.

00:17Wow!

00:18That's why our Davawenya,

00:21PCG Commander-in-Chief Admiral Hill Gava said

00:25this promotion is to recognize

00:28his dedication and triumph in the last Paris Olympics.

00:32This is a well-deserved recognition

00:34for our two-time Olympic medalist, Nesty Petesio, the champ.

00:37Given that in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics,

00:40he won the silver medal,

00:41and in the recent 2024 Paris Olympics,

00:44he won a bronze medal.

00:46So given, he deserves this promotion

00:50in the Philippines.

00:51They're teammates, right?

00:52Yes, that's right.

00:53Nesty Petesio is serving the Philippine Coast Guard right now.

00:56And there are a lot of athletes

00:58who are serving different services in the Philippines.

01:02We have the Army, Navy, and the Philippine Air Force.

01:06There are a lot of them, actually.

01:07And not to mention a few.

01:08Of course, let's not go too far.

01:09Our first-ever Filipina gold medalist,

01:12Hydrin Diaz,

01:14actually, she's serving in the Philippine Air Force.

01:17And then, I think she started way back in 2013.

01:20And then, because of her gold medal finish

01:22in the last 2020 Tokyo Olympics,

01:25she was promoted from sergeant to staff sergeant.

01:28So this is a huge thing to promote.

01:30And for these promotions,

01:32it's a huge thing for our athletes.

01:33They are serving the country as athletes,

01:37but they also have a chance to serve as military personnel.

01:40Right, teammate?

01:41Yes, and of course, it's a privilege

01:43to have a national athlete

01:46who's representing the country

01:47and at the same time, serving for our government.

01:51And it was in 2021

01:53that Nesty Petetio started serving

01:56in the Philippine Coast Guard.

01:57And because of this,

01:58she was able to get her first medal in the Tokyo Olympics.
