00:00So yeah, this Four Nations Cup thing, which I actually rolled my eyes at and scoffed when
00:08it was initially announced, because, you know, the NHL hasn't gone to the Olympics, they're
00:12on and off with the Olympics all the time, the NHL, the NHL players want to go all the
00:15time.
00:16The owners don't like it.
00:17Batman doesn't like it because they don't make money, right?
00:20They shut the league down.
00:21They never really see a spike after in the NHL.
00:24So the whole, oh, we're going to sell the game thing just bothers them.
00:26And there's always, you know, going to be an injury too.
00:29So instead of going to the Olympics, they came up with, all right, we'll have our own
00:32little tournament, you know, USA, Canada, Finland, Sweden, they screwed Russia and all
00:37the other countries over.
00:40But it turns out they actually did cut the deal again with the Olympics next year, guys.
00:43So this is basically a precursor for the Olympics next year.
00:47So next winter, we have the Olympics, there's going to be NHL players in the games.
00:51This is sort of the tryout, the mini pre-tournament to get ready because they don't have a lot
00:56of time to prepare for this stuff since they have, there's no all-star game this year in
01:00the NHL.
01:01So there's Four Nations Cup, guys, and it's played in two cities, Scott, at a Four Nations
01:05Cup.
01:06Starts February 12th, and it's played in Montreal and Boston.
01:11So Team USA are playing in the games in Boston and Canada.
01:16It's around Robin though.
01:17So everybody's going to play, everybody.
01:19It's in Montreal and Boston, it only takes a week long.
01:23And the final game, the semifinals are in Montreal, the final game is actually in Boston,
01:28the championship game.
01:29So Finland and Sweden announced the roster, Scott.
01:32USA's announcing the roster at 6.30 Eastern time tonight, and there's obviously a lot
01:37of anticipation about to see what Canada is going to roll out.
01:40Nate McKinnon and Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby on the team together for the first
01:45time.
01:46They haven't played together before.
01:48So if you look at Canada, it's got like some high-power stars on their team, but it doesn't
01:54mean they're going to win this tournament, Scott.
01:56It's around Robin, bro.
01:57There's only four teams.
01:58So everybody plays each other.
01:59They play three games, and then you go into the little semifinal and final.
02:03I'm throwing it out there right now for everybody.
02:05I think Sweden.
02:06I think Sweden, Scott.
02:08Everyone, Canada, USA, USA, Canada, Sweden, plus 450 to win a Four Nations Cup.
02:15They play disciplined hockey.
02:17Swedes, too, are like moms when their kids are trapped under a car in international hockey, Scott.
02:24They're suddenly better.
02:25You know what I mean?
02:27Like the Swedes take this stuff seriously, man.
02:30Like they love it.
02:31Remember King Henrik won the gold medal?
02:34He never won a cup.
02:35That's his thing.
02:36Right?
02:37That was the championship.
02:38Like, dude, Ovechkin winning for one.
02:40He won the world championships with Russia.
02:42He was more stoked that he won the Stanley Cup, but we saw how stoked he was.
02:45The European players care about this stuff, like shutting the Canadians up, shutting the
02:49Americans up, showing them that they can play.
02:52I like Sweden plus 450, but I can't wait to see the U.S. roster come out and the Canadian
02:57roster come out in a couple hours, Scott.
02:59I like to go to these games, actually.
03:01You're rooting for Canada, aren't you?
03:03Yeah, deep down inside, yes, I'm not going to lie.
03:07My grandfather played for Team Canada, so I'm always going to have a soft spot in my
03:11heart for them, but I'm pretty good at compartmentalizing this stuff, Scott.
03:17My rooting.
03:18Rooting is a strong word.
03:19Put it this way.
03:20I'll be rooting for them hardcore in the Olympics.
03:23I don't really care about the Four Nation Cup, right?
03:27Nobody's going to remember, oh, they won the Four Nations Cup.
03:29Like it's basically a pre-tournament for the Olympics.
