00:00Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post, and here's a look at
00:04some of the things going on in the week ahead.
00:07A two-part television documentary series looking at the impact of smartphones on children's
00:14behaviour is set to air on Channel 4 this week.
00:17Hosts Matt and Emma Willis will join forces with a school in Colchester, and they'll challenge
00:21a group of Year 8 pupils to give up their smartphones completely for 21 days.
00:27The experiment is being conducted in conjunction with the University of York, and it's going
00:32to see pupils undergo a series of testing before, during and after the experiment.
00:38The idea is to look at the effects that giving up their phone has on their brain, including
00:43things like sleep, attention and mental health.
00:47The new sixth-form college teachers in England are set to continue strike action this week
00:52over a pay dispute.
00:54Members of the National Education Union across 32 academised colleges are due to walk out
00:59on December 13th.
01:01It comes after hundreds of teachers have already joined the strike action over the past couple
01:06of weeks as they call for an above-inflation pay increase.
01:11And finally, a celebration of life event will take place this week in memory of teenage
01:16photographer Liz Hatton.
01:17The 17-year-old from Harrogate who died last month pursued a photography bucket list after
01:22being diagnosed with an aggressive and rare form of cancer at the start of the year.
01:26Liz hit the headlines when she was pictured being hugged by the Princess of Wales at Wintercastle
01:34in October, and she'd been invited to take pictures of Prince William at an investiture.
01:40The Royals expressed their sadness at Liz's death, saying it was an honour to have met
01:44such a brave and humble young woman.
01:46So on Wednesday, a celebration is being held in Harrogate and will consist of an exhibition
01:50of her photographs as well as a chance to eat her favourite snacks and share some memories.
