00:00Thank you, Variety.
00:03I'm usually sleeping this time.
00:05I wake up late.
00:07So anyway, I just woke up.
00:17Well, I'm in no Japanese time, though.
00:19OK, so this year has been full of memorable moments.
00:25A few months ago, I gave a speech at my Hands and Footprints
00:32ceremony at Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
00:38I was surprised to learn I was the first Japanese artist
00:42to receive the honor in their 100 years history.
00:48Today, I'm honored to be the first Japanese artist
00:53to receive this amazing Variety International Achievement
00:59in Music Award.
01:00Thank you so much.
01:06These days, I expanded into film directing and fashion design.
01:12Currently, I'm preparing for my next runway
01:15show at Paris Fashion Week.
01:18But music remains my foundation.
01:22As some of you may know, I'm a classical pianist, composer,
01:29and I'm a heavy metal drummer.
01:35So rock and roll is dangerous.
01:40By the way, I had my third neck surgery from heavy head
01:46banging just several weeks ago.
01:49I've always wanted to prove how far art and music can take us.
01:55And receiving this award encouraged me to keep on going.
02:01I'm so grateful to share this journey with all of you
02:05who understand the power of art.
02:09Thank you very much, Variety.
02:12Thank you for this honor.
