00:00Yeah, hi, my name is David Bee, I'm the Regional Manager for Walking with the Wounded.
00:04Brilliant, tell me why you wanted to walk across Portsmouth.
00:08Walking across Portsmouth, firstly I was stationed here whilst serving in the Royal Navy.
00:13I have a family connection here, my father's side of the family were based in Eastney in the Royal Marine Barracks
00:20and I have cousins that still live in Portsmouth, so it's keen that all opportunities are given to veterans
00:29to come forward and be supported when it's necessary.
00:35Tell me what you think about the Walking with the Wounded campaign.
00:40The campaign is a fantastic tool to introduce people into the organisation,
00:49either sponsors and ambassadors, beneficiaries who are seeking support.
00:57It's about a solid message knowing that those that have served can get support
01:02by either referring themselves or family members can refer to the organisation.
01:07Tell me what the reaction's been like so far.
01:10We've had a fantastic reaction to date.
01:13A conversation a year ago with Kev and Val Goldstone, who are Pompeii Rates,
01:20who came and joined me in London last year for the London Walk,
01:24and asked if we could do a Walk in Pompeii and I said of course we can.
01:27We've gone from two or three people wanting to be involved and I think currently
01:32we're probably close to 20 walking with us today and picking a few up en route.
01:36So it's a really positive campaign, all money's raised go directly to our veterans
01:42and equally the more people know about our organisation the better the service provision can become.
01:49And just tell me what the campaign can really do for veterans.
01:53The campaign can work light touch with supporting with documentation, housing issues, DWP,
02:03all the way through to bespoke therapy with psychiatrists and psychologists
02:09for those that are really struggling with PTSD and complex PTSD.
02:13So the range is huge.
02:16Any veteran, proven served, will be supported by us. It's no issue.
