00:00The Justice Department is positive that the convicted OFW in Indonesia, Mary Jane Veloso, will return to the Philippines before Christmas.

00:11The decision of Timor-Leste to issue the second extradition request for the former congressman, Adolfo Tevez Jr., is welcome for the agency.

00:22Luisa Erispe is in the center of the news.

00:26The Philippines' victory in the use of justice in other countries is coming one after another.

00:32This is because of the next success of the Philippines when it comes to the case of the former congressman, Arnolfo Tevez Jr. in Timor-Leste,

00:40and in the return of Mary Jane Veloso, the convicted OFW in Indonesia.

00:46In the case of Arnolfo Tevez Jr., the Department of Justice confirmed that for the second time in a row,

00:51the Philippines has issued a request for him to be extradited from Timor-Leste.

00:57We welcome the decision of the Timor-Leste court who again decided in our favor and granted the extradition of former congressman Arnolfo Tevez.

01:07The decision was not unexpected.

01:11According to the DOJ, they will find out if there is an appeal from Tevez's camp.

01:16But it is expected that Tevez will return here to face the attempted murder, frustrated murder, and murder against him

01:26because of the previous extradition of former governor, Ruel Digamo.

01:30We are coordinating with the Timor-Leste officials, our counterparts, to see whether they still have the right of appeal.

01:39We do not expect that the decision of the Timor-Leste Court of Appeals will change.

01:44Meanwhile, Mary Jane is likely to return to the Philippines sooner than Tevez.

01:51According to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulia, before Christmas, Veloso will return to the country.

01:58The DOJ explained that this is because the Philippines and Indonesia signed an agreement for Veloso's return.

02:06According to the DOJ, if Indonesia agrees to give executive clemency to Veloso, it is a big deal for the Philippines,

02:14but it still depends on President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

02:18We are happy to hear that from a sovereign state.

02:22However, our law here, the Constitution, only gives power to the president.

02:32It is in the Constitution that only the president has the prerogative to issue executive clemency.

02:38For now, the Bureau of Corrections and National Bureau of Investigation is ready for Veloso's return to the country.
