As Bristol City have shown a huge amount of inconsistency this season in the Championship, what are they doing to turn things around? We review their recent results and performances and look ahead to the festive fixtures to see just when they can hit a run of form.

00:00Bristol City, obviously, we've mentioned a number of times what it takes to be a championship
00:08winning side, a championship promoted side. You do need huge amounts of consistency throughout
00:15the season. In terms of this season for Bristol City, I mean, the inconsistency has been quite
00:21incredible. I mean, it's obviously all throughout this calendar year as well, if you look further
00:24back and then even further back over the last few seasons as well. It's all been a bit of the
00:30same and they are trying to find the solutions to sort of resolve this because they sit mid-table
00:37around there and they just seem to linger and they do pick up some good results, but they also fail
00:42to win at home, for example, and then they go win-loss, win-loss, for example, and it's just
00:48form that's not going to get you out of the championship. It's one of, obviously, the
00:51toughest divisions in the world to get promoted from. So, how do you sort of see them improving
00:57it? What are the sort of solutions and key moments that they need to change if they are to sort
01:03this inconsistent run out? Well, as I say, just looking at their recent form in just November,
01:09they had one, two, three, four, five, six games in November and it's just so up and down and
01:16topsy-turvy. You start the month with a great 3-1 win away at Preston North End and then, fair
01:21enough, okay, at home you get beaten by Sheffield United, but then again they are pretty much at the
01:25top of the table and then you go away to Norwich City and you win 2-0 and you think, you know,
01:30it's been pretty good so far, albeit the one loss. Then you come at home, you lose against Burnley.
01:35Burnley, yes, are up there as well. You then go away from home to Watford, you get beaten 1-0 and
01:41then you go and win 4-0 at home against Plymouth Argyle, Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle. So you
01:46think, okay, it's been an all right month. They've had three wins there, albeit three losses as well
01:55and then you come into the start of December and you think, okay, build on that. You've got
01:59Portsmouth at home, bottom of the league and they're going to lose 3-0. It must be so infuriating
02:07for them at times because they go from such a good performance against Plymouth, who are a
02:11team also down the bottom of the table, to then going to play Portsmouth, who are also down there
02:17and it's such a poor performance. I mean, Liam Manning, the manager, said they were lacking
02:21intensity and it is that, to be honest, but it's the lack of consistency because it must be so
02:27hard to try and work out why they're going from such a good performance to such a bad one against
02:32two teams who are largely quite similar and had similar records so far this season. So it is
02:36baffling for them and I mean, they've all said they have aspirations of the playoffs but not
02:41with that level of inconsistency. You've got to be picking up consistent results and yes, they've had
02:47some great results but they're surrounded by some really poor results and that's just in the last
02:52month and a half, to be honest, and that's what the problem is and it sort of epitomises
02:57what they are like as a club at the moment.
