00:19High number of youths who drink alcohol. This came out in the 2023 National Nutrition Survey of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute or FNRI of the Department of Science and Technology.
00:33Based on the data of FNRI, 51.8% of adolescents in the age group of 10 to 17 years old is considered a binge drinker.
00:43Binge drinking is drinking too much alcohol. It's equivalent to 4 or more bottles containing 320 milliliters each.
00:52It means you can drink it in one sitting and repeat it several times in the past 30 days.
00:59This is one of the things we can look at or review what happened in terms of behavioral shift, especially among youths.
01:11I think there are many of us who have a YOLO attitude.
01:16Maybe after the pandemic, it became more recreational.
01:22At the same time, it was also found that there is an increase in the lack of physical activity in the so-called age group.
01:28Based on the data, 75.5% or 3 out of 4 adolescents lack physical activity.
01:36When binge drinking and lack of exercise are included, the risk of diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and other heart diseases is high.
01:44According to FNRI, intervention is a big part of this at a young age.
01:49I think that's the target of the policies. It's no longer in adulthood, which is, we know that it's hard to halt.
01:58It's because behavior is more on peer pressure and addicting to others.
02:09The data on binge drinking among adults is also high at 58.7% and older persons at 44.9%.
02:17It was also found that the lack of physical activity among adults is also high.
02:23What we can recommend and hope that our fellow Filipinos can do is to have physical activity every day.
02:32For WHO, it is recommended to have 30 minutes of physical activity in a day.
02:42When it comes to older persons, 6 out of 10 lack physical activity.
02:47According to FNRI, older persons should have physical activity along with a healthy lifestyle, healthy eating patterns, and avoid vices such as binge drinking and drinking alcohol.
