IANS Exclusive: Ahead of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) election, incumbent president Rohan Jaitley has dismissed the serious allegations made by his opponent, Kirti Azad, as "baseless" and lacking substantial evidence. Azad accused Jaitley of mismanaging funds from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Jaitley expressed surprise at the timing of the allegations, stating that they had not been raised in the past three years. He likened the claims to those made against his father, Arun Jaitley, in the past, which were ultimately dismissed. On Azad's debate challenge, Jaitley called it a "gimmick" and criticized Azad for not personally reaching out. He stressed the importance of healthy political dialogue, stating he was open to meaningful discussions. Jaitley, confident in his re-election campaign, outlined plans for a new international stadium, high-performance centers for grassroots development, and expanded facilities for DDCA members and non-members. The DDCA election will take place from December 13 to 15, with results announced on December 16.

00:00I am not aware of the content of the allegations that have been made by my opponent, but if
00:12allegations are being raised only in the momentum and the heat of the election, it is not something
00:18that came up for the last three years.
00:19I'm fairly surprised that why would someone make wasteless allegations without any substantial
00:25documentation to back them?
00:27This only reminds me of the instance where the same opponent, years ago, against my father
00:32made wasteless allegations, led garden paths of the other political leaders of the country
00:38and they in turn made allegations and where did those legal cases eventually head to?
00:42Rather than them being wasteless, it's a similar story, it's just the same old wine being re-bottled
00:50by him and being served again to the innocent members of this association for his own invested
00:57vendetta-based ambitions.
01:04It was a mere jhumla and a gimmick, please understand.
01:08You want to debate with me, have the courtesy of reaching out directly.
01:12You sent out an invite to the journalistic society and the fraternity and you didn't
01:16have a courtesy of even reaching out, not even a mere WhatsApp or a message or a call.
01:20Otherwise, it's like, oh, he's younger than me, he's like a son to me, there's nothing.
01:24I respect the man for what he's done, he's a leading political leader, he's a World Cup
01:31winning player but at the end of the day, we need to remember that what is being done
01:38is politics over here, which is not healthy enough for an ecosystem to sustain.
01:42It's important that we have a healthy conversation and I'm always open to a healthy conversation.
01:47We are planning a new international stadium, which should be at least three times, at
01:58least twice the capacity of the existing one.
02:01We are planning on making these new high-performance centres, which will also give an ambit to
02:06the grassroot cricketers to come into a secretised facility of being catered to.
02:12We are also looking to expand our facilities at the club for members as well as non-members
02:18to ensure that the best is available for them.
