00:00The moment they walked through the event's doors, it all came crashing down.
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we'll be looking at the most bizarre,
00:09shocking and jaw-dropping events of 2024 that left us all shaken to the core.
00:14I always did my best to be a trooper, never complain.
00:19Boeing's defective planes.
00:21Boarding a flight only to have the fuselage rip off mid-air
00:25sounds like a scene from a disaster movie.
00:27It's a photo Kelly Bartlett says she never thought to take,
00:30but she's glad she did after living through the terrifying experience on flight 1282.
00:36But for passengers on Alaska Airlines flight 1282 on January 5th,
00:402024, that scene came to life. Shortly after the Boeing 737 aircraft took off,
00:46a door plug ripped away, sucking out passengers' items.
00:49So at first I thought it was just the window, and then I realized it was the whole panel,
00:54and that the kid who was sitting in that row, like, his seatbelt had saved his life.
00:58Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. In the following weeks,
01:02several Boeing planes experienced more alarming defects,
01:05which led to the aircrafts being grounded.
01:08In a statement, the company said safety is its top priority,
01:11and it has worked closely with regulators, investigators and stakeholders
01:16to implement changes that ensure accidents like these never happen again.
01:20Investigations soon discovered that in the January 5th incident,
01:24Boeing failed to install crucial bolts to secure the fuselage panel,
01:29sparking a criminal investigation into the company.
01:32Then, in a bizarre twist, Boeing whistleblower John Barnett was found dead in March,
01:37which only fueled suspicions about the company.
01:40Bihar Bridge Collapses
01:42A single bridge collapse is worrisome.
01:44But when 12 bridges crumble within 17 days in just one state,
01:49then that's a full-blown crisis.
01:51Another day, another bridge collapse. This is the story of Bihar.
01:54Beginning in June 2024, a dozen bridges gave way in the state of Bihar, India,
01:59with multiple sometimes happening on the same day.
02:02These concrete lifelines seem to be collapsing one after another at a pretty alarming rate.
02:08The timing coincided with the onset of monsoon season,
02:12cutting off communication between villages and disrupting access to schools and hospitals,
02:17which left many communities stranded.
02:19The recent bridge collapses across the state have not only disrupted daily life,
02:24but they've also shaken the public confidence in these
02:27structures that should be lifelines for the public.
02:29These incidents expose the use of subpar construction materials
02:34and the negligence of the engineers in charge.
02:36In early July, the state government suspended 15 engineers involved
02:40and ordered a reconstruction of the bridges at the contractor's expense.
02:45Kate Middleton's Disturbing Disappearance
02:47It's unusual for a prominent royal to disappear from public duties,
02:51so when Kate Middleton remained out of sight for months, speculation ran wild.
02:56I think it's really hard to understand really why they're not telling us.
03:00Although Kensington Palace had announced in January 2024 that
03:04Middleton underwent abdominal surgery and was recovering,
03:07conspiracy theories still circulated.
03:09Some suggested she had divorced Prince William,
03:12undergone cosmetic surgery, or even passed away.
03:15In an attempt to calm the storm,
03:17Kensington Palace released a Mother's Day photo of Middleton with her children.
03:21But it only fanned the conspiratorial flames.
03:24The princess apologized,
03:26raising new questions about what's going on behind the palace walls.
03:30Observers noted several discrepancies with the image,
03:32which led reputable news outlets to take it down.
03:35Finally, on March 22, Middleton broke her silence with a video,
03:40disclosing that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy.
03:45We hope that you'll understand that as a family,
03:49we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment.
03:53Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s brain worm.
03:56There is such a thing as too much information,
03:58and voters got plenty of it during the 2024 presidential campaign,
04:02thanks to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
04:04Tonight, new questions about the health of independent presidential candidate
04:07Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
04:09During a podcast interview,
04:10Kennedy revealed that he suffered memory loss and mental fog in 2010
04:15after a worm crawled into his brain, ate part of it, and died there.
04:20Doctors initially thought he had a brain tumor,
04:22but it was eventually determined that the culprit was, in fact, a parasitic worm.
04:26Most people will have at least some degree of cognitive impairment
04:30just because of the inflammation that goes on in the brain
04:32when a parasite has made a home for itself there.
04:35Never one to shy away from unsettling personal stories,
04:38Kennedy later revealed that he once dumped a dead bear cub in Central Park just because.
04:44So I pulled over and I picked up the bear.
04:48We're not entirely sure what drove him to that decision, but we have a wiggly hunch.
04:54Kolkata sexual assault and murder.
04:56On August 8, 2024, a trainee doctor in Kolkata, India,
05:01went to sleep after enduring a grueling 36-hour shift.
05:04The following morning, her body was discovered.
05:07Having been sexually assaulted and murdered.
05:09As a result, thousands of doctors went on strike and took to the streets in protest.
05:14There's an anger that has been simmering for generations
05:17amongst doctors, amongst women, amongst all healthcare workers.
05:21The day after the grim discovery, Sanjay Roy,
05:24a police volunteer, was arrested after confessing to the crime.
05:27He was the one who had been seen on CCTV
05:30walking close to the lecture hall where the murder had taken place.
05:34He was officially charged in October.
05:36But Roy wasn't the only one facing repercussions.
05:39Hospital administrators allegedly attempted to cover up the crime,
05:43initially telling the doctor's parents that she had taken her own life.
05:47Amid the growing protests, Sandeep Kumir Ghosh, the hospital's principal,
05:51resigned only to be arrested later for tampering with evidence.
05:55Sandeep will be produced before the Shialda Court on Sunday.
05:58The self-immolation of Aaron Bushnell.
06:01Since the Israel-Hamas war began in October 2023,
06:05the U.S. has pumped billions of dollars into supporting Israel
06:08while condemning the civilian casualties in Palestine.
06:11This has led to widespread protests,
06:14even from within President Biden's administration and the U.S. military.
06:18These are some live pictures of a vigil underway
06:20outside the Israeli embassy in northwest D.C.
06:23People there are gathering to remember 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell.
06:27On February 25, 2024, Air Force serviceman Aaron Bushnell
06:32took his opposition to an extreme level.
06:34That morning, he messaged media outlets about his plan to,
06:37quote, protest against the genocide of the Palestinian people.
06:41Dressed in full combat gear,
06:42Bushnell stood in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C., and ended it all.
06:47Screaming, free Palestine.
06:49He was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbs to his burn injuries.
06:53This marked the second self-immolation protest against U.S. support for Israel.
06:58Jeffrey Epstein unsealed documents.
07:01The case against disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein keeps unraveling,
07:05even years after his death.
07:07We learn more each time about how this sophisticated trafficking operation happened.
07:12Epstein, who was charged with trafficking young victims,
07:15reportedly took his own life in his jail cell while awaiting trial.
07:19Since then, calls to unseal court documents have grown louder,
07:23and in January 2024, they were finally released.
07:26He was a brilliant manipulator of powerful men.
07:32These documents named an eyebrow-raising mix of victims,
07:36friends, and high-profile associates of Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
07:42This was a well-oiled machine.
07:44Among them were Donald Trump, David Copperfield, Bill Clinton,
07:48Prince Andrew, Michael Jackson, and, to everyone's surprise, Stephen Hawking.
07:54While merely being named doesn't imply guilt, the documents revealed disturbing tidbits,
07:59including Clinton's alleged preference for
08:01young partners and Hawking's participation in an inappropriate group activity.
08:07Attempted assassination of Donald Trump
08:09Back in July 2024, Donald Trump was still the presumptive Republican nominee
08:14for the U.S. presidential election.
08:15On July 13th, mere days before he was scheduled to formally accept the nomination,
08:20Trump was shot during a rally in Pennsylvania.
08:23The entire campaign apparatus is just deeply rattled.
08:26A lot of people have not been able to have a chance to speak with the former president directly.
08:30The perpetrator, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks,
08:34fired several rounds that killed one attendee and injured two others
08:38before he was finally shot by the Secret Service.
08:40Local police taking these pictures when they first noticed the shooter,
08:44and these pictures of the items found on the roof.
08:47Trump was wounded in his right ear, but luckily escaped without any critical injuries.
08:51As the most serious attempt on a president or presidential candidate's
08:54life since Ronald Reagan in 1981, the attack drew bipartisan condemnation.
08:59Look, there's no place in America for this kind of violence. It's sick.
09:04Surprisingly, this was only the first of two attempts,
09:06with the second taking place at his Florida golf course two months later.
09:10He posted a message on social media assuring that he is safe and well
09:14and saying nothing will slow him down.
09:17Sean Diddy Combs arrest and escalation of the case
09:21Sean Diddy Combs' downfall began in November of 2023 when his former partner,
09:26Cassie Ventura, filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual and physical assault.
09:30Saying in a statement,
09:31After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story
09:36and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women
09:40who face violence and abuse in their relationships.
09:43Although the case was quickly settled, Ventura's claims gained further credibility in May 2024
09:49when surveillance footage showed Combs attacking her in a hotel.
09:53By September, the scandal escalated,
09:55as Combs was arrested on charges for racketeering and sex trafficking.
10:00Then came the disturbing revelations surrounding his past behavior,
10:04Combs' alleged hosting of freak-off parties,
10:07drugging sex workers and coercing them into acts he filmed to ensure their silence.
10:12A good 80 to 90 percent of what we see in the indictment
10:17is from video evidence because it takes time.
10:21It takes months to go through that evidence to identify
10:25who some of these victims and witnesses are to reach out to them
10:29to then hope that they will be willing to testify.
10:32If convicted, Combs could face life in prison.
10:34But even without a conviction, his legal troubles aren't over.
10:38More than 100 lawsuits are pending from individuals
10:41accusing him of assault during the 2000s and 2010s.
10:45I believe the indictment is the tip of the iceberg.
10:47That's a scary thought, isn't it?
10:49It's an incredibly scary thought.
10:51I mean, there's countless victims who we likely won't know the identities of,
10:57but my hope is that they get some sense of justice from this.

11:17Bombshell revelations from Quiet on the Set documentary.
11:21Nickelodeon owes much of its success to Dan Schneider.
11:24In the mid-90s, Nickelodeon is pushing the boundaries of children's entertainment.
11:31And this is when Dan Schneider arrives.
11:33The man behind iconic series like The Amanda Show,
11:36Drake & Josh, and iCarly was once the network's golden boy.
11:40However, in the wake of the Me Too movement,
11:42allegations of toxic workplace behavior forced Nickelodeon to sever ties with him.
11:48Then came the 2024 series Quiet on the Set,
11:51which pulled back the curtain on even more troubling allegations.
11:55We were there for so many hours.
11:57You get comfortable with people.
12:04Until you're not.
12:05The documentary featured former Nickelodeon child stars and writers
12:09alleging predatory behavior and gender discrimination behind the scenes.
12:14Notably, actor Drake Bell, whose identity was previously sealed,
12:18revealed himself as the victim in a 2003 case involving a former Nickelodeon dialogue coach.
12:24I knew that my life was going to be absolutely completely different from that point on.
12:29These revelations cast a harsh spotlight on the industry's
12:33failure to protect its most vulnerable talents.
12:35Environment on set really matters when we're talking about kids,
12:39because if they aren't protected, then they're vulnerable to much worse.
