00:00A political solution with Syria determining and owning its future.
00:05That's the view of China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi,
00:08who's been discussing the turmoil in the Middle East with his Egyptian counterpart.
00:12Our correspondent Sun Yue reports.
00:15Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs,
00:19Butler Abdel Rady, in Beijing.
00:22The two also co-chaired the China-Egypt Foreign Minister's Strategic Dialogue
00:27that took place on the same day.
00:29Wang said the dialogue had come at a critical juncture
00:33as the international and regional situations undergo major changes,
00:37citing the continuing conflict in Gaza and the sudden changes in Syria, among others.
00:44He said China and Egypt, two important global South countries,
00:48could contribute to global peace and growth.
00:51Abdel Rady said Egypt is willing to deepen concrete cooperation with China on all fronts.
00:58This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment
01:01of the China-Egypt Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,
01:05and both sides have vowed to work together for higher goals and push the relationship forward.
01:11Later in the meet-the-press session,
01:13the ministers summed up more of the consensus reached in the dialogue,
01:17including promoting peace talks for peace and stability in the Middle East.
01:22Wang also laid out China's take on Syria.
01:26China has long pursued a policy of friendly cooperation with Syria,
01:36never interfering in Syria's internal affairs and respecting the choices of the Syrian people.
01:42We support the realization of peace within Syria as early as possible
01:46and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2254,
01:51as well as the advancement of domestic political processes under the principle of Syria-led, Syria-owned,
01:58to fund a national reconstruction plan that meets the people's wishes through inclusive dialogue.
02:08On the situation in the Middle East, Wang said the only way out is to talk.
02:14The immediate priority is to implement an immediate ceasefire,
02:18stop the violence and ease the humanitarian crisis.
02:22We must comply with all UN Security Council resolutions,
02:26cease actions that could escalate regional tensions,
02:29and avoid creating new obstacles to achieving a ceasefire.
02:33The fundamental solution lies in adhering to political resolutions
02:37and resuming dialogue and negotiations.
02:44Wang also said as the region strives for peace and stability,
02:48China would continue to be the friend of countries in the region
02:52and continue to promote peace and development
02:54and remain a long-term trusted partner of the Middle East.
