We spoke with NJ Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia and Middletown Township Mayor Tony Perry about the hundreds of sightings of drones over multiple New Jersey counties in the past month ... and, in a nutshell, they say they need the federal government to act ... NOW!

00:00We were called to a meeting, all 120 New Jersey legislators were called to a meeting.
00:06We were told we were going to be meeting with all stakeholders, the FBI, DHS, our own Office
00:13of Homeland Security and Preparedness in New Jersey.
00:16And this meeting came from the governor at the request of a senator from Warren County,
00:22Senator Doug Steinhardt.
00:23So we go to the meeting and imagine our surprise when the governor is not there, nor is the
00:28FBI after we were told they are the lead agency on this investigation.
00:34It was a huge slap in the face.
00:37Then flash forward to what we're hearing federally, where we have the admiral go on the news from
00:45the White House and tell us, oh, no, these are airplanes, there's no present danger,
00:51anything along those lines.
00:53Meanwhile, in our briefing, the colonel of the New Jersey State Police told us that he
00:59sent up a helicopter with two of his men to fly over top of the drone, who then subsequently
01:05turned out their lights and took off.
01:08And the conflicting information, I mean, think about this, this is what everybody is saying.
01:13They're saying, how can you say you don't know the origin, you don't know the owner,
01:18you don't know where they're landing?
01:20They're not registered, but they pose no threat.
01:24The two are mutually exclusive.
01:26It has to be one or the other.
01:28What they should be saying is, we have no idea what the hell is going on, however, however,
01:35we are doing steps A, B, C, and D.
01:38And what we're missing are steps A, B, C, and D.
01:42And my fear is that our constituents are going to take it into their own hands.
01:45For those of you that don't know much about New Jersey, per se, I happen to represent
01:50a very rural section of New Jersey, the farthest northwest that you can get in the state.
01:57And we are rural, we are farming communities, we're a hunting community, lots of gun owners
02:032A.
02:04And my concern is that, you know, with that type of mentality and that defensive mentality
02:11that we have, and that we all share, that it's only natural, and I would caution absolutely
02:17against that, and here's why.
02:19Being that we don't know anything about this, you know, set of drones, clusters of drones,
02:25we don't know if there are explosives.
02:28We don't know if there's a chemical agent.
02:30We don't know if there's a biological agent.
02:33We don't know what would happen upon taking a hit from any firearm.
02:38So although they are flying low enough at times, close to the tree line, it's very disconcerting
02:44to think somebody would take it in their own hands, because, you know, these drones are
02:47also flying over spaces they're not supposed to be flying over.
02:50You know, we have Route 80 that runs, we have Route 15 that comes off, which is a major
02:54corridor that goes into the Route 80 highway system, which is national, and these drones
03:00are flying over highly trafficked highways.
03:04They're flying over children playing sports on fields.
03:06They're flying over military institutions that we have.
03:10We have a military arsenal, Picatinny Arsenal, in North Jersey, and there are 11 confirmed
03:17sightings by military personnel, a military spokesman confirmed that they were in that
03:23airspace.
03:25So you tell me when the White House comes out and sends out their, you know, spokesmodel
03:29of the week to regurgitate some nonsense to us, it's horrible, horrible.
