A heat wave is expected to hit several states and territories across the country this weekend and into next week, with temperatures in some places set to reach 40 degrees.

00:00We've got severe to extreme heatwave conditions through much of the NT over the coming days
00:07and severe heatwave conditions for inland parts of South Australia, New South Wales
00:13and Queensland with low to severe intensity heatwave conditions in Victoria.
00:18So much of Central and Eastern Inland Australia are experiencing heatwave conditions in the
00:23coming days.
00:24Many will be in excess of 40 degrees and even a number will be over 45 degrees.
00:29So we are talking about some pretty high and intense temperatures and that's for much
00:33of inland Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, much of Victoria and South
00:38Australia over the next three days.
00:41Today the heat will really focus around South Australia, inland New South Wales and Northern
00:46Victoria and tomorrow the focus being through Victoria and New South Wales where many inland
00:51areas could exceed 45 degrees, some even getting up to 46 or 47.
00:57Thankfully the heat peaking in South Australia today so we're going to see a cool change
01:02move through southern parts including Adelaide later tomorrow as we go through Monday.
01:07The cool change moving into Victoria on Tuesday and then into New South Wales on Tuesday night
01:12into Wednesday.
01:13But the heat unfortunately continuing for much of Northern Australia including inland
01:18Queensland and much of the NT likely to see severe to extreme heatwave conditions right
01:23through the week but relief coming for southern parts of the country from Tuesday, Wednesday.
