Tarif Pajak Pertambahan Nilai (PPN) naik jadi 12% mulai 1 Januari 2025. Hal ini sesuai amanah Undang-undang Nomor 7 Tahun 2021 Tentang Harmonisasi Peraturan Perpajakan. Menurut Menteri Keuangan, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, tarif PPN yang saat ini diterapkan Indonesia sebenarnya relatif rendah. Menteri Keuangan membandingkan dengan beberapa negara yang menerapkan PPN lebih tinggi dari Indonesia seperti Brasil dengan PPN 17%, Afrika Selatan 15%, India 18% dan Turki 20%.
