00:13Benji Durango of PTV in Balitang Pambansa.
00:18This is not a restaurant. It is also not a fast food. But the foods are of the same restaurant quality.
00:24How is the food? Is it good?
00:25It's okay.
00:26It's good?
00:27This is the new opening of Walang Gutom Kitchen that was opened by First Lady Liza Marcos and T.S. Saboliti Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
00:34The priority of our President, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., is to end starvation.
00:38If you can remember, our program is called Walang Gutom.
00:42Those are the food stamps that are already running.
00:44We give supplemental food credits.
00:47The program will be helped by an old law that is not yet implemented.
00:52This is Republic Act No. 9803 or better known as the Food Donation Act of 2009.
00:58This will save food surplus or excess food from private companies.
01:03DSWD will process it in the food hub.
01:06700,000 food poor.
01:08This program can be helped by the government.
01:10First of all, the food bank will help the government and the private sector.
01:16There are two problems that can be solved in this program.
01:19Starvation and food wastage.
01:21Instead of just throwing away the food, many people are hungry.
01:24They will dump it here.
01:25We will make sure that our hungry countrymen can get food every day.
01:31But food experts will go through the process of rationing excess food so that it can be saved.
01:37Is the food you're eating still good?
01:38Yes.
01:39Really? When was the last time you ate like that?
01:42It's okay.
01:43It's good here.
01:45In the last 80 years, the Food Donation Project has been able to feed the so-called food poor every day
01:51such as street children, our countrymen living on the streets, and anyone who is hungry.
01:56As long as you're hungry, you can come here.
01:59The hunger-free kitchen can be found in the Nasdaki Building in FB Harrison, Pasay
02:04which used to be a POGO facility that is now under the care of DSWD.
02:09Aside from the food hub, this building is also home to homeless people.
02:15Benji Durango, for Balitang Pambansa.
