00:35as a point of reference for hematological patients and their families.
00:39The A.I.L. community, led by President Giuseppe Toro,
00:43wanted to reaffirm the value of solidarity, care and welcome that have always characterized the Association.
00:49Today we are honored, we are honored by this opportunity given to us by the Holy Father
00:54to celebrate our 55 years in such an important way,
01:00so full of spirituality, full of warmth,
01:05and above all to realize this commitment of ours, which is above all projected for the future.
01:14There is still a lot to do.
01:16Leukemic diseases are cured in a very positive way today.
01:23More than 70% are solved, but there is still a lot to do.
01:29The symbol of the event was the candle, the emblem of hope and light in the dark,
01:33accompanied by the message together we illuminate the future.
01:36This slogan summarizes the commitment of the A.I.L. in supporting patients,
01:40financing scientific research and raising public opinion on the fight against blood tumors.
01:45Pope Francis stressed the importance of putting the sick person at the center,
01:49offering light and hope through closeness and listening.
01:53The meeting ended with a symbolic representation in Piazza San Pietro,
01:57where the participants formed the number 55 A.I.L.,
02:01using red cards to celebrate the association's past and look with hope at the future.
02:07A.I.L., which has been supporting patients and families for 55 years along the difficult path of the disease,
02:12renews its commitment to be a beacon of hope.
02:15We can say that a volunteer looks deep into the person,
02:21because we cure the whole person, not just the disease itself.
02:25Seen objectively, the tumor, any leukemia, yes, they are very serious diseases,
02:31but above all they are to cure the person, above all they are to live the experience.
02:37The patient must not be left alone, the patient must be accompanied.
02:41And what we do today is the hope of the Gospel that becomes flesh.
