With over 60 companies joining in 2024 to directly support 21 local charities, this year's goal is to go above and beyond 2024's achievements, continuing to help Bristol's food banks and community kitchens with the critical work they do in tackling food insecurity.

00:00What we're working on for 2025 is year two of the anti-bankrupt. The anti-bankrupt essentially
00:08is what it sounds like. I mean, it's purest form. It is a form of equality. I'm a chef
00:16by trade and a restauranteur. We've been running our own businesses for 20 years. And in that
00:23time, we've done a lot of charity banquets and a lot of banquets. And we have a huge
00:32community initiative in what we do within our business. And it just occurred to me at
00:40some point that, you know, a lot of people that go to these banquets are potentially
00:45there for a reason. They're there for networking. They're there for the business reason, even
00:50if it's a charity thing. So, I wanted to create something that turned it on its head
00:56and worked for the people. I wanted everyone to go to this banquet to be able to be having
01:01a good time.
01:02And why the Bristol Food Community, Ben, as a charity?
01:07Well, the Bristol Food Community is huge, you know, and that's just basically a sweeping
01:12generalisation. What we did do is we gave 100,000 to the Bristol Community Food Fund
01:18and then they have a citizens panel. And then they decided where big chunks of that money
01:25went. So, it was actually spread out across a diverse range of organisations that intersect
01:30Bristol Food Community. And why? Well, that's simple. I work in the food community and I
01:37see a lot of inequality and I see a lot of food poverty. And, you know, for me, I work
01:43in restaurant businesses and breweries and event businesses. And for me, we're trying
01:49to key a lot of all the aid that we do to help alleviate food poverty and food insecurity
01:57across the city.
