Snow is spreading from Canada across the Northern Plains and into the Midwest over the second half of this week.

00:00Bree, looking ahead to the northern plains here, we've got some snow on the move and some cold air too.
00:05Yeah, I want to take a wide view because there's a lot packing with this storm. We have Alberta
00:10clippers on the way, clipper systems at least, that are going to pack a little bit of a punch.
00:16This is the overall setup Wednesday through Friday night. We have this first clipper that's going to
00:21be diving in coming out of the southern prairies of Canada, but then also it tracks east moving
00:29across the upper midwest, the Great Lakes, eventually into the interior northeast.
00:33That's where we're anticipating some more of that heavier snow, impactful snow, slippery travel there.
00:38On top of that, we are adding on a few inches, 6 to 12, right in this corridor,
00:44when all is said and done. Again, this goes through Friday night. Your accurate local
00:47storm max is high as 15 inches. That's why we do have plenty of winter weather alerts out. We do
00:55have winter storm watches in effect where we see this slightly lighter blue and also winter storm
01:01warnings in effect where we have that deep dark blue. I want to isolate those winter storm warnings
01:06a little bit here. They do extend across northern North Dakota, extending across the eastern plank
01:13down through central Minnesota into Wisconsin as well. So heads up, this does go at least through
01:19the end of the week where we are anticipating more of that winter weather as this storm does
01:24make its way further south and east. Here it is a little bit zoomed in. You can tell that it's
01:30already dumping some heavier or heavier snow on its north or at least northeast flank, but as it
01:36continues to wrap around that big bowling ball of energy, well, it's going to continue to spread
01:41those impacts a little bit further south. It's going to be coming down pretty heavy in the Twin
01:46Cities. Minneapolis, we're calling for 3 to 6 inches with your AccuWeather Wintercast. That
01:50snowfall expected through Thursday that goes really from the wee hours, 4 a.m. eastern time
01:56through 7 p.m. eastern time. Not great, especially if you have to commute. Here comes that storm. It's
02:01like a firebolt here, Jeff. It's moving Thursday morning, 7 30 a.m., already still seeing that snow
02:08in areas like Minneapolis heading towards Milwaukee and Chicago.
