00:00The U.N. Agency for Palestinian Refugees has said the decision by the Swedish government
00:06to end core support is disappointing.
00:09In a post on Ex-UNHWA, Commissioner General Felipe Lazzarini said this is a sad day for
00:13the multilateral system which Sweden has spearheaded.
00:17The Swedish government said it would increase humanitarian funding for the region next year,
00:22but that those funds would be distributed through other channels.
00:26Stockholm says it's stopping direct funding to UNHWA in response to a decision from the
00:30Israeli Knesset to block the agency from working in the Palestinian territories.
00:36Israel has long been at odds with UNHWA, accusing the agency of turning a blind eye to militants
00:41among its staff.
