00:00If I don't think there's anything, anywhere further I can go.
00:03Was he scary?
00:04He was scary in real life, for sure.
00:06I wouldn't sleep with him.
00:07I wouldn't sleep with him, but there's a bit of something there.
00:10A huge fan of his.
00:12I loved the script.
00:15When I read it all those years ago, I was like, yes, yes, yes, yes, I want this movie
00:19to exist, I want to be a part of it, everything.
00:23And then when Warlock came about, I was unsure if I was right for it or if I could do it,
00:34but he believed that I could, and that was a motivator for me to try to, at least.
00:42And yeah, it's a movie that, I don't know if it's like I've had this experience quite
00:50this much where it's like I would have loved to see this movie regardless if I was part
00:55of it.
00:56I just would love to be, I'm a fan of this movie and of Robert, so the fact that I got
01:03the opportunity to be a part of it in such a way was a no-brainer.
01:08And then, yeah, I've done these kind of really far out there sort of transformational roles
01:15before, and I think that this one is as far as I can get away from myself.
01:21I don't think there's anything, anywhere further I can go in terms of complete transformation,
01:26physically and vocally and whatever, yeah.
01:28Was he scary?
01:29Did you...
01:30He was scary in real life, for sure, yeah, yeah, and because I think everything is real,
01:35there's very little CG in this movie, and so the Count Orlok that you see on screen
01:43is the Count Orlok that we were seeing in real life, and so he's completely scary and
01:49imposing and Bill is quite tall already, and then he had these Orlok heels that made him
01:55like even taller, and he was...
01:56A nice stiletto.
01:57Yeah, a little stiletto, and he was, yeah, very, very scary.
02:02And of course, he's a phenomenal actor, so when we were shooting those scenes, he was
02:07yeah, completely embodying that role.
02:09It was very impressive.
02:10And during Attraction Public, as simple as there's something interesting about the undead
02:17coming to visit the living, that's pretty juicy right there, and about people's relationship
02:25to strategies in their life versus the other, versus the end, versus it's a meditation on
02:36death, and then any time you have a meditation on death, you introduce a meditation on sex,
02:42and anything you have a meditation on sex, you have a meditation on relationships and
02:49love, so it's a flexible thing, and the sexy vampire, he was sexy.
02:56I didn't think...
02:57He was rotten.
02:58I didn't think Orlok was quite sexy.
02:59He was rotten, but you know, I wouldn't sleep with him.
03:02I wouldn't sleep with him, but there's a bit of something there, there's chemistry, and
03:05I think where there's chemistry, there's attraction, and where there's attraction, there's sexuality,
03:09so I think there's like, there was something there.
03:12Because of the style and how Rob shoots, it's really absorbing, but also then it's like
03:17longer takes through each scene where it doesn't give you a relief.
03:22You get, suck it in, and you have to stay with it, and that's something that just helps
03:26build the tension and the weariness of what's about to come, and being on set was kind of
03:33like that.
03:35The sets were, first of all, there were 60 sets, I think, and they were all so realistic
03:40and beautifully designed, but then on top of that, the way that Jarrah and the DP lights
03:44them, it was all very moody and dark, and then there would be an atmosphere in there,
03:49and Rob would play music that was kind of imposing, so it was quite a sinister, oppressive
03:55place to be.
03:56Yeah.
03:57Very all-consuming, for sure.
03:59But that's also what's great, as actors, to be then put into that environment, it kind
04:02of gives you a lot of information, you know, and emotionally, you know, to perform.
