00:00This Christmas, let us greet our beloved countrymen abroad, the OFWs, who are far from their families.
00:08Despite the distance, we want to make them feel that they will never be forgotten.
00:13Let's find out how they celebrated Christmas abroad, their stories of Filipino Christmas abroad.
00:20Let's listen, joining us live via Zoom, from Southern California, USA,
00:25Mommy Lynette Padulina. Mommy Lynette, good morning!
00:29Mommy Lynette, hello po!
00:30Hello!
00:32Hi, PP! Hello, everybody! Merry Christmas!
00:37Merry Christmas! Joining us is Mommy Myles Cruz, from Northern California, USA,
00:42and Mark Munar, all the way from Doha, Qatar. Good morning!
00:46Merry Christmas po sa inyo!
00:48Merry Christmas!
00:50Maligayang Pasko!
00:53How are you doing? We have different schedules, right?
00:58Yes.
00:58We have different schedules in Doha, Qatar, and also in California, USA.
01:03In Doha, Qatar, I think it's already 12 or 1.
01:05Yes.
01:06We're only 24.
01:08It's already 3 o'clock.
01:10Bispiras ng Pasko.
01:12Bispiras ng Pasko, yes.
01:14Okay, let's start with Mommy Lynette, and then Mommy Myles, and then Mark.
01:21How do you celebrate Pasko in the country where you're in right now?
01:27Mommy Lynette.
01:29Actually, we celebrate it in three places.
01:35We have a couple of homes in Southern California
01:40that we actually have gatherings with friends and family,
01:45and then we also have a home in Las Vegas that we also have different set of friends that we get together.
01:55But at the same time, we don't really forget about sharing our blessings
02:01sa ating mga kamabayan sa Pilipinas, which is in my hometown.
02:07We have the act of kindness and gift-giving for the people with disabilities.
02:14So, that's actually in short.
02:20That's what Mommy Lynette always does.
02:22How about you, Mommy Myles?
02:25For me, I celebrate Pasko because I am a caregiver.
02:31I celebrate it with my patient or with my client
02:36kasi wala pong holiday dito pag ikaw pong caregiver.
02:42Kailangan pong pumasok. So, I celebrate Christmas.
02:45Actually, bukas, I celebrate Christmas with a patient that I care.
02:54So, ako pong maglulutong ng kanyang dinner, and then we will eat together.
02:59And that's how Christmas is celebrated here in the U.S. or in California.
03:26So, actually, namili na ako and then I sent it there.
03:29And nagparapol na ako ng around 30 raffles.
03:33Wow!
03:34So, and then video call lang din po.
03:37Kasi malayo eh.
03:39It is the fact that kami pong family, kami, ako po,
03:55Yung aking daughter works in the Philippine Embassy in Vienna, Austria.
04:08Kaya, that's how I celebrate Christmas here in the U.S.
04:12Ayan, talagang sharing eh.
04:25Hello, Sir. Yes, good morning. Good morning sa lahat.
04:29Alam mo naman dito sa Qatar, it's like medyo conservative ang nating environment
04:38because it's an Arab country.
04:40But when you are in the Filipino community or within your family,
04:46it's more of an intimate celebration for Christmas.
04:57we celebrate it by having a noche buena kumbaga and we eat together.
05:10what it did is tipong-tipong sila sa mga lugar kung saan sila pwede.
05:16So, I think there is no such a big difference kung ano man sa atin sa Pilipinas.
05:21We still celebrate the same Christmas as we enjoyed from other parts of the world.
Mark, go ahead.
05:47Actually, it is my wish talaga na someday, somehow na makapag-celebrate ako ng Christmas sa Philippines.
05:54Just recently, kakabalik lang namin kasi dito sa Qatar like two weeks ago.
06:12Kaya no choice, go back to Qatar.
06:23Mami Lynette, ikaw naman, I know na miss mo rin ang gift-giving.
06:26Pero what do you miss most kapag Pasko dito sa Pilipinas?
06:32Well, actually, P.P., to be with my loved ones that still lives in the Philippines.
06:38And also, especially my health that actually continue to do all my advocacy for all these years.
06:48I want to thank them for continuously helping me actually spreading joy for the less fortunate people in the Philippines.
06:57And of course, nami-miss ko ang mga pagkain, mga bibingka, at mga puto bumbong, you know.
07:05And all the goodies of kakanin, mahilig ako dyan.
07:10So, those are the things that I miss the most.
07:15And Mami Myles?
07:25Whereas dito, kasi ang simbang gabi namin dito is ala-siete.
07:29Whereas dyan sa Pilipinas is dawn or madaling araw.
07:46Tsaka yung opening of gifts, exchange gifts.
07:50Dito po wala eh. I mean, of course, nagbigay tayo ng regalo, naggigirit tayo.
09:01Kahit saan pa yan, gawin natin makabuluhan yung ating Pasko.
09:08Mommy Lynette and Mommy Miles.
09:10At mula naman sa Doha, Qatar.
09:12My good friend, Mark Munar.
09:14Mula sa Rise and Shine Pilipinas.
09:15Merry Christmas!
09:16At ang ingat mo kayo dyan.
09:17Enjoy!
09:19Merry Christmas!
09:20Merry Christmas!
