01:01The vice president is facing at least three impeachment complaints over her alleged misuse
01:05of public funds.
01:07The former president is a lawyer and passed the bar in 1973.
01:11He served as a prosecutor in Davao City before entering politics.
01:14The VP says her father is preparing documents with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines
01:19so he can sign as a lawyer of good standing.
01:22Under IBP rules, a lawyer is considered in good standing if they paid membership dues
01:26and all authorized special assessments made by the IBP national office in their chapter.
01:31They also must not be under suspension from the practice of law.
01:35National Union of People's Lawyers' President Efraim Cortes says nothing prohibits lawyers
01:39from representing family members.
01:43Taiwan's presidential office conducts its first tabletop exercise simulating a military
01:48escalation with China.
01:49Dozens of central and local government agencies and civil groups participated in the three-hour
01:54exercise on Thursday, December 26.
01:57China in recent years stepped up military threats, including the large massing of naval
02:01forces this month and daily military activities close to democratically governed Taiwan.
02:06Beijing claims Taiwan is part of China.
02:09The exercise simulated scenarios including China's high-intensity gray zone warfare and
02:14being on the verge of conflict to test response readiness.
02:19A 14-year-old daughter of a Filipino couple working in Dubai performs at New York's highly
02:24prestigious Carnegie Hall.
02:25Jaira Carranza, a junior high school student with a string of awards for singing, says
02:30she had the best time of her life singing at the world-famous venue.
02:33She says, quote,
02:34It felt surreal to be on that historic stage, knowing that many talented and legendary people
02:39had performed there.
02:40Carranza won first place in both Broadway and traditional categories in this year's
02:44American Prodigy in New York, the largest international music competition in the U.S.
02:49This led to an invitation to perform at Carnegie.
02:52She says,
02:53Preparations for the performance had been intense but rewarding.
02:56Carranza bagged four medals in 2023, one gold and three silvers at the World Championship
03:01of Performing Arts held in Anaheim, California.
03:04She was also given a commendation for her role as Princess Jasmine in Aladdin Jr. the
03:08Musical at the Abu Dhabi Theatre.
