00:46The Quezon City Prosecutor's Office junks criminal complaints against Vice President

00:55hospital in November 2024.
00:58On November 23, Lopez was detained at the House of Representatives following a contempt
01:02order from the House panel probing the Office of the Vice President's alleged fund misuse.
01:07She was supposed to be brought to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center following an anxiety
01:11attack, but Duterte and her security team diverted her to St. Luke's Medical Center.
01:16Quezon City Police filed the complaints of direct assault, disobedience to authority,
01:20and grave coercion against Duterte and her Vice Presidential Security and Protection
01:24Group head, Raymond Lachica.
01:27The prosecutor says there was not enough evidence with reasonable certainty of conviction to
01:31pursue the allegations against Duterte.
01:34The resolution adds, Duterte and Lachica did not attack, use force, or seriously intimidate
01:39Quezon City Police Officer Jason Villamor during the incident.
01:43It also explains, in order for an act to be considered as a direct assault, the use of
01:47physical force must be serious and, quote, must be more severe than just slapping and
01:52punching.
01:55The Senate approves a bill granting Filipino citizenship to Chinese businessman Li Duan
02:00Wang Monday night, January 27, despite serious concerns raised by Senate Deputy Minority
02:05Leader Risa Ontiveros.
02:07Did we not learn from Guo Huaping, alias Alice Guo, or from Yang Jianxin, alias Tony Yang?
02:19She asks fellow lawmakers if we haven't learned from the cases of, quote, abusive foreigners
02:24who pretended to be Filipinos and taint our system.
02:27She reiterates the red flag she earlier raised, that Wang is a junket operator, an associate
02:32of Duan Renwu, the alleged big boss of the Pogo raided in Porak, Pampanga, that Wang's
02:38business is located in the same building as the business operations of Cha Jizhong, the
02:42self-confessed Chinese spy, and that based on documents from the Securities and Exchange
02:47Commission, Wang lied and presented himself as a Filipino named Marco Ong.
02:52Ontiveros clarifies she does not deem Wang guilty of any crime, but says Wang should
02:56be investigated.
03:00The Philippine Coast Guard accuses its Chinese counterpart of, quote, engaging in shadowing
03:05that hindered an attempt to recover the body of a fisherman.
03:08Commodore J. Tarjelas as the BRP Cabra responded to a distress call on Monday, January 27 from
03:14a fishing boat located 70 nautical miles southwest of Silangan Island, Zambales.
03:20Video shared by the PCG show, the BRP Cabra bracing waves as PCG personnel tried to transfer
03:25onto the smaller wooden fishing boat.
03:30Earlier, the 44-meter Cabra was tasked with guarding against China Coast Guard ships that
03:38continue to patrol waters off the coast of Zambales.
03:41It was successful in preventing the Chinese vessel from advancing closer to the coast
03:45of Zambales.
03:47Different CCG ships, from its so-called Monster Vessel to other vessels, have been staying
03:5260 to 90 nautical miles off the coast of Zambales.
03:58Second Congressional Commission on Education, or EDCOM 2, reveals only 25% of Filipino children
04:04meet the recommended energy intake.
04:06Malnutrition is chronic for millions of kids.
04:09Underweight Filipino children 3 to 5 years old were found to consume 20% less protein,
04:1440% less total fat, and 35% less carbohydrates than recommended.
04:20EDCOM 2 also shows Filipino children under the age of 5 are stunted and has remained
04:25persistently high from 2000 to 2020.
04:28The economic cost of stunting is pegged at P174.4 billion a year.
04:34This despite programs born out of legislation such as the Kalusugan at Nutrisyon na Magnanay
04:39Act.
04:40Unlike the Philippines, countries such as Peru, Bangladesh, and Vietnam have made considerable
04:45progress in addressing stunting over the years.
04:48While the government has feeding programs, EDCOM 2 considers these insufficient.
04:55Eugene Domingo makes her return to theater as she joins the cast of the Filipino staging
04:59of Broadway musical Into the Woods.
