Chair of Surviving Christmas explains more in the video here.
Transcript
00:00This Christmas, we have had our two-day project at his place in Robertson Street, Hastings.
00:09We normally would use the Salvation Army Hall at the Citadel, which we've been using for
00:15over 10 years, and we've contributed to the community by providing them with commercial
00:22freezers, commercial fridges, paying for the blinds, and we were very happy there.
00:28But unfortunately, this year, they wanted to charge us £4,000 to hire the hall for
00:34eight days.
00:35We felt we had to move, we could not afford to pay that.
00:39As a charity, we are self-funding, and every penny we have to raise ourselves.
00:45So luckily, his place in Robertson Street gave us full use of their facilities, which
00:52are amazing, and everybody's said how wonderful the accommodation is.
00:58And our hamper packing, we used Battle Abbey School in Battle, which again, we had a great
01:05welcome and a lot of help and support.
01:08So I'd like to thank those for letting us use their facilities for a lot, lot less than
01:14we would have paid the Salvation Army.
01:17And everybody here is enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and the bonhomie that they've received
01:23over these last two days.
01:26Next year, we've been offered the accommodation again, so we will return to these premises
01:31and Battle Abbey School.
01:33And while I'm on the video, I'd like to say thank you to all of our volunteers who have
01:38been absolutely amazing.
01:40The young farmers that helped us unload our pantechnican of food, and the amount of money
01:47that we've raised this year has been really great.
01:50So thank you everybody for your generosity, for your time, your money, and the goods that
01:56you've given us to help the people of Hastings and the Rother Districts.
