00:00The Office of Civil Defense, or OCD, is set to hold the meeting tomorrow to enhance tsunami
00:06preparedness in the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, and the Central Luzon.
00:11OCD Administrator and NDRRMC Executive Director Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno will lead
00:18the meeting.
00:19Regional directors will present their contingency plans in response to recent earthquakes in
00:26Ilocos Sur, raising concerns about the possible tsunamis.
00:30Nepomuceno also emphasized that public warnings about the potential tsunamis must be simple,
00:36clear, and easy to understand, such as want to hire ground, not know or not evacuation
00:43centers.
00:44Furthermore, he issued urgent directives during an emergency preparedness meeting addressing
00:50threats from the Shirline, Catalan Volcanoes eruption, and offshore earthquakes in Ilocos
00:56Sur.
00:57He urged the Office of Civil Defense Regional Offices and Local Government Units, or LGUs,
01:04to enhance contingency plans, improve communication strategies, and refine evacuation measures.
