Bagong buhay ang simbolo ng paglaya ng higit 150 persons deprived of liberty o PDL bago mag-Bagong Taon. Bagamat maraming taon ang binuno nila sa loob ng piitan, umaasa ang ilan sa kanila na may nalalabi pang panahon para muling makapagsimula.

00:00New life is the symbol of the release of more than 150 persons deprived of liberty or PDL before the new year.

00:07Even though they have been in prison for many years, some of them are hoping that there will be more time to start again.

00:15That is what Ian Cruz is talking about.

00:18Just before the end of the year, the 100th and 57th persons deprived of liberty were released by the Bureau of Corrections today.

00:32149 of them were imprisoned in New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, 8 from Davao Prison and Penal Farm, and 2 from the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong.

00:44The PDL of Nena is not her real name. She was only imprisoned once in the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong.

00:51But in her release today, her family still wanted her back.

00:55I am thankful to the Lord that He gave all of my freedom to my family.

01:06We will be together in the new year.

01:08This PDL man has been waiting for more than two decades from New Bilibid Prison.

01:13Before he was released, he finished his qualification in the Good Conduct Time Allowance.

01:18I still have the strength, but I don't plan to go back to my old work. Instead, I will change so that I will not go back here.

01:31His parents were the ones who wanted to be with the 41-year-old man who said that he was qualified in prison.

01:38I will go back to work. I will look for a job so that I can start again.

01:44According to the Bucor, from November 26 to this day, they have released more than 1,000 PDLs from various prisons in the country.

01:52This is the first time that we have released more than 1,000 PDLs in a month.

02:02You are the first ones who were blessed by the GCTA.

02:07There are 7,707 PDLs since January this year.

02:12So, in total, there are 18,422 PDLs that were released under the name of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulia.

02:21In the next year, many PDLs will be able to avail the benefits of the law, including those who committed heinous crimes.

02:29When we implement the GCTA, we will screen them because all of these are heinous crimes.

02:37These are the ones who benefited from heinous criminals.
