Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter dies at 100 The 39th President of the United States passed away on Sunday at his home in Plains, Georgia while surrounded by family according to official representatives. His passing comes after 22 months spent in hospice care, however an official cause of death has yet to be revealed. President Carter made history as the first former President to live to 100 after celebrating his milestone birthday on October 1. During and following his time in office, Carter became an advocate for peace around the world and a shining leader in humanitarianism, working closely with Habitat for Humanity and founding the Carter Center, which advocates for democracy, human rights, and peace around the globe. Actress Linda Lavin dies at 87 Best known for her leading role in the 1976 sitcom Alice , Linda Lavin was a star of both the screen and the stage. Throughout her career, she earned some of entertainment's highest accolades, including an Emmy nomination for her role in the CBS sitcom, and a Tony Award win for her role in the 1986 Broadway play Broadway Bound . At the time of her passing, Lavin was in the process of filming the upcoming Hulu series Mid-Century Modern , as well as promoting Netflix's No Good Deed , which premiered on December 12. She passed away on Sunday due to complications from lung cancer, which she was only recently diagnosed with. Wicked becomes highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation in global box office history, surpassing Mamma Mia! After bringing in more than $634 million globally, Wicked: Part 1 has officially made history, becoming the highest grossing stage to screen musical adaptation ever to hit theaters. The record was previously held by 2008's Mamma Mia! , which brought in $611 million by the end of its theatrical run. The achievement comes just 6 weeks after the film's release, just days before its digital release on December 31. Gal Gadot reveals she survived severe blood clot in brain amid pregnancy The 39-year-old actress, who gave birth to her fourth child back in March, recently opened up to fans about a health struggle she faced during the final months of her pregnancy. Gadot shared details of a 'massive blood clot' she was diagnosed with in the eighth month of her pregnancy, writing 'For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth. In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be.' She underwent emergency surgery following her diagnosis and later gave birth to a healthy baby girl who she named Ori, meaning 'my light.' Gadot hopes women and anyone experiencing health issues will advocate for themselves, writing 'If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing.'
