00:09Let us know the simple steps that can help to avoid accidents and ensure a happy and safe celebration.

00:19And if that's the case, we will be joined by the Bureau of Fire Protection, Spokesperson and Fire Senior Superintendent, Annalie Carbajal-Atienza.

00:29Good morning to all of you who are watching our program. Happy New Year.

00:34Happy New Year, ma'am. Good morning. This is Prof. Fie, together with Audrey.

00:37On the first day of December, the Bureau of Fire Protection and activities, including the Intensified Fire Safety Inspection, are active with the Offline Paalala Iwas Papotok 2024.

00:50How is the situation now, one day before the new year?

00:55We are still in full blast. The entire BFP force is active.

01:00And we continue our patrol, or what we call the Pikurida.

01:05Morning, afternoon, and evening, in various places, in terminals, markets, all the more, in residential areas.

01:14And we continue to remind people not to fire in these areas.

01:19Because based on the experience of our fellow countrymen, it is painful to have an incident of fire.

01:29Especially in the beginning of the new year.

01:32Ma'am, there are limited reasons for fires during the new year.

01:36Of course, these fires.

01:38But as an owner of a house, how can you protect your house from fire?

01:45During the new year, where there are fires, and your house may possibly be hit by fire.

01:52Of course, our priority, our mindset should be prevention.

02:39What are the prohibited types of firecrackers?

03:18In our monitoring, so far, we have not received a report that we have witnessed illegal or prohibited fireworks.

03:32The Bureau of Fire is very particular in the case of firecrackers.

03:39And when it goes down, we will not be able to control it.

03:42No matter where it is, it will explode.

03:45And that is often the beginning of an incident of fire.

03:50The same goes for sky lanterns.

05:28Or better yet, visit their social media accounts.

05:33Give them time to visit their local fire station.

05:40Our updated hotline numbers are posted there.

05:45Save them right away in their cell phones.

05:52What are your messages and reminders to our countrymen?

05:57Again, on behalf of our officer in charge of the Bureau of Fire Protection, General Jesus Fernandez,

06:03and the entire force of the BFP,

06:06to celebrate the New Year,

06:13and safe.

06:14That should be our priority.

06:16Let's include that in our wish to have a safe celebration of the New Year.

06:22And if we are going to use firecrackers,

06:26let's make sure that it's an open space,

06:29that there are no wires on top, no trees,

06:32that it's far from the house, far from people.

06:35We have a fire extinguisher,

06:38a bucket of water or a bucket of sand,

06:42and make sure that it's open before leaving.

06:49to make sure that there won't be any source or cause of fire.
