00:00What should we expect from the agriculture sector in 2025?

00:07Let's find out in the words of Allan Francisco.

00:12In the midst of calamities that hit the country this 2024,

00:16and there is a lot of destruction in the agriculture sector,

00:20the Department of Agriculture made an effort to help the farmers and fishermen.

00:26There were 17 typhoons and we haven't mentioned the El Niño and La Niña typhoons yet.

00:31So in 2024, the production of our agriculture decreased.

00:38We were affected by many typhoons and floods.

00:42Our production decreased by 2.2%.

00:46But despite this, the Department of Agriculture was quick

00:51to meet the needs of our farmers and fishermen.

00:56At the start of 2025,

00:58Mike Abilive, Agriculture Assistant Secretary, Joicel Pandilio,

01:04said that they will not stop fighting the agriculture sector.

01:08This is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive

01:12to continue providing sufficient food for the Filipinos.

01:17I can say that we will succeed.

01:19We have launched a lot of programs.

01:21All of our programs and interventions

01:25are to ensure that there is sufficient food for every Filipino.

01:31As President Marcos said, no Filipino will go hungry.

01:35So to ensure that there is sufficient food,

01:39we will continue to give interventions to our farmers and fisherfolk

01:43and we are ensuring that we have sufficient supply.

01:48Our staple food is rice.

01:51This is the most important.

01:53We have launched Rice For All.

01:55It's only Php40 per kilo.

01:58In January 2025, they will launch Sulit Rice and Nutri Rice.

02:03The price of Sulit Rice is around Php35 or Php36 per kilo

02:09and the quality is also good.

02:11They also continue to teach their farmers

02:14about post-harvest programs

02:16so that the agricultural products won't go bad

02:19even if they produce a lot.

02:22In addition to that, increasing the number of fish

02:26to fight African Swine Fever is also a priority.

02:30What is affected is actually 6,058 barangays

02:34but as of now, it's only 365 barangays

02:38as of our data on December 6, 2024.

02:43It means that what the Department of Agriculture is doing

02:47is becoming effective.

02:50We have already received vaccines.

02:53In addition to the pandemic,

02:55they are also not stopping in other programs

02:58like irrigation, fattening,

03:00lending to farmers and fishermen,

03:02and many more.

03:04We have a new amended law,

03:07the Agricultural Tarification Act.

03:10For our rice farmers,

03:12in the past, our allocation was Php10 billion per year.

03:16Now, it's Php30 billion.

03:19Wow, it tripled.

03:21Yes, it tripled.

03:23The purpose of this Php30 billion

03:25is to use Php9 billion for machinery.

03:28Since our equipment will be more modern

03:33for the production of rice,

03:35our production will increase.
