Canada’s Wonderland is opening for the 2023 season on May 5 and the rides aren’t the only thing to get excited for. The amusement park has tons of drool-worthy dishes from sweet treats to festival food. You can dig into iconic desserts like the funnel cake or try something new at the recently-opened Lazy Bear Lodge. Here are some of the dishes that Narcity’s Madeline Forsyth got to try ahead of time.

00:16to get a little sneak peek at the park this year.
00:18Now, Canada's Wonderland doesn't officially open until May 5th.
00:22I'm going to get in a little early and see what kind of food we can expect this year.
00:25I'm going to try some of the iconic treats at the park
00:28as well as some food from the food festivals
00:30and some dishes from the new Lazy Bear Lodge.

00:35Canada's Wonderland has several food festivals happening throughout the summer
00:38including Taste of Portugal, Taste of the Caribbean and the new Taste of Brazil.
00:43I got to sample a few of the dishes that will be featured at these events
00:46and started the day off with the Taste of Brazil.
00:49So this is a dish from the new Taste of Brazil festival
00:52that's happening in August.
00:55We have got some black bean stew with meat, some collard greens, salsa, rice.
01:02Let's dig in.
01:04Got a lot of flavor.
01:06The meat is like cooked perfectly so I'm enjoying this.
01:10Next, I made my way over to the Oktoberfest station
01:14where they were serving up all sorts of German themed food.
01:18Oktoberfest is running for two weekends in September.
01:21We are going to dig into the Oktoberfest menu now.
01:25This is a bratwurst sausage, hopefully I'm saying that right,
01:28with a German potato salad.
01:31So let's see.
01:35So it was really good, very flavorful.
01:38Definitely had me looking forward to October already.
01:40On to the next station, it was time to take a little trip to Portugal.
01:44This festival is running in August.
01:47This is from the Taste of Portugal festival.
01:50We've got a Portuguese turnover and fries.
01:52I'm going to dig in right now.
01:54It looks delicious.
01:59I've never tasted anything like this before.
02:03Definitely a good comfort food option.
02:07Of course, the best part of any meal is dessert
02:10and I was so excited to try some of the treats out.
02:13There was just so much to choose from and it was all so colorful.
02:16I ended up getting a mango square and some churros
02:20which came topped with ice cream and strawberry sauce.
02:22The mango square was probably my favorite.
02:24It was just so soft and fluffy and the perfect way to end the meal.
02:29I was getting pretty full at this point
02:31but I really wanted to check out the recently opened Lazy Bear Lodge
02:34because it has delicious barbecue food.
02:37There was a lot to choose from
02:39but I ended up getting the brisket with cornbread and wedge fries.
02:44It honestly exceeded my expectations.
02:46It did not taste like amusement park food.
02:48The sauce was just so packed with flavor.
02:51The meat was juicy.
02:53We also grabbed some sausage and the super gooey mac and cheese.
02:57So I'm outside Tiny Tom's Donuts right now.
03:00I'm about to eat some cinnamon donuts.
03:02These are an iconic treat so I knew I had to get some.
03:13They're so warm.
03:16There were so many other dishes I wanted to try
03:18but I was getting so full and also very cold
03:21so I decided that funnel cakes had to be the last thing on the menu.
03:25This dish is what Canada's Wonderland is known for.
03:29It's got a big bed of crispy batter with a mountain of soft serve
03:34all drizzled with strawberry sauce.
03:37At this point in the day, I kind of lost my ability to express myself through words
03:41but as you can see by my expression, it was a big hit.
