Due to the yellow weather warnings for strong winds Tenby’s New Year’s Eve fireworks were postponed until January 1st - however, the party in the lead up to midnight in Tudor Square still saw a mass celebration take place in the centre of the seaside town - with a mass countdown to midnight and confetti cannons.
Tenby House Hotel situated in the middle of the walled town in Tudor Square, which annually organises the fireworks display for locals and visitors alike, shared earlier in the day that they had decided to cancel the fireworks for the evening due to the adverse weather conditions.
“It was to be our 25th anniversary fireworks tonight, and is the first except for during Covid that we have been forced to make this decision,” they stated.
“We feel that the high winds and rain forecast will make it near impossible for us to let off the firework display effectively and safely.
“We will still have the countdown to midnight, and the confetti cannons in the Square to welcome in the New Year, and we still hope to see everyone there.
“As we do not want to disappoint the community we are going to let off the fireworks at 10pm on New Year's Day.
New Year 2025 is now a two-day event at Tenby House, with The Connections playing live from 7pm at the venue tonight (January 1st), with the fireworks at 10pm.
The coastal town of Tenby has become a popular place to celebrate the end of another year, with people from far and wide joining locals in the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Pembrokeshire, knowing that the town centre, and its many pubs, bars and restaurants will be in party mode, leading up to midnight.
