00:00The European Commission has said the EU was prepared for Russian gas to stop flowing,
00:06but Moldova is already suffering shortages. Temperatures across Europe are near freezing
00:12in some parts. Can they really survive without Russian gas?
00:17The situation is different in Moldova and in the other receivers of Russian gas, I would say.
00:26When it comes to Slovakia, which obviously is a big importer of Russian gas, and Austria,
00:34they have a possibility to take gas from other sources via the integrated pipeline system in
00:43Europe. But that gas will be more expensive, and that is the problem that the Slovak
00:49Prime Minister is complaining about. It will be substantially more expensive.
00:58When it comes to Moldova, which is supplied by another pipeline through Ukraine,
01:04they don't have immediate replacement capacity. The gas to Moldova is very important for
01:12supplying a big power station, so they are risking a big shortage of electricity.
